Google it mate, or 'The King's/Queen's Shilling.' An old method of more or less conscription, without it being conscription.

PS. Tab, you're not THAT old are you?!

All going well I will be joining 2 Mercian they're my local regiment and seem to be most suited to me, however I am still early in my application so I'm still looking into the diffrent regiments.

There is no fear, there is only the force.

I am still fairly open minded on a job but i have gone for the Royal Artillery as a Corps and will decide upon a Regiment during week 1-6 of phase 1 when recruits are visited by units(if i make it there of course!), would love to join an Airborne unit and will be doing a solo charity jump 11th June to see if it's for me, if it is then 7 RHA is a strong possibility as my run time is around 9:17-30 which after 2 phases of army training i'm sure will drop to 9:00 or there abouts.

Basic Skills Test - Passed
Medical Forms - Cleared (eventually!)
ADSC Passed- 25/08/09
