army basic training similar to RM phase 1 training?

Post by lodgi »

Hi there. I did 14 weeks of RM training in 2007. I decided it wasn't for me and I'm at college now doing engineering. But recenly I have been looking at the REME with a view to joining next year when I finish college. My question is: Is army basic training similar to phase 1 royal marine training? I guess you must learn the same basic things like how to admin yourself on base and in the field, drill etc. But is it easier/harder than RM training? What are the differences

You should ask an army recruiter, either go into a army recruiting office or have a live online chat here;

http://www.armyonline.mod.uk/

They'd know I'm sure
No idea myself as i havent yet done army basic training :P or RM training for that matter.

Are you kidding? Basic training will be like a holiday camp compaired to RM training.

Unless you are joining Para Regt all training especially fitness wise will be a lot easier
Things you feel like doing after being hit in the liver :
-Vomitting
-Suffocating
-Shitting yourself
-Passing out
-Crying for your mummy
-Stop taking part in any kind of violent sport.......

thanks for the replies lads. I had a feeling it would be some what easier anyway. But what are the differences apart from the phys? What are the field excercises like? Do you do any range work?

IS there anywhere I can find out about basic training>?
