So.. This will be my "weird (or do you guys say "strange"?) questions"- thread, I guess. I warned you.
Since I am writing my novel the first problem occurred - yes, I love detailed stuff, so please tell me what do signs at barracks say? Anything like "military zone" or so? I mean e.g. at German barracks are signs that you should stay away the fence and stuff.. In British?
There's usually a notice to the effect that "This is a restricted place under the Official Secrets Act 1985. Unauthorised persons may be prosecuted."
There may also be a reference to 'No Photography' depending on the location.
Training sites (as opposed to camps) have a variety of signs, from 'Caution - Troops Exercising', 'MoD Property - Keep Out', to 'Danger - Live Range - Do not enter when the red flag is flying' or 'Danger - Do not touch military debris, it may explode and kill you!'
Road signs are as for any other place, but the camp name is on a white background with a red outline.
Us and the camp across the road have eletronic LCD signs which say things like keep to the speed limit, keep dogs on a lead, the name of the camp and the time. Ours unfortunaly is not setup correctly so the writing is all over the sign and the time is 1 hour and 10 minutes out.
