Good council meetings this week.

Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council ....I know ..... yawn ....

A while ago I nominated our greatest British gymnast ever, Beth Tweddle, to be admitted to our Sporting Role of Honour.She lived and (then ) trained in our town before moving on to Liverpool to be trained by Amanda Kirby. I was, at the time, Chair of the Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council Leisure Committee.

Beth was admitted after winning her first European Gold medal on bars.

We had tea and fancies with the Mayor.

Yesterday, at full Council, we did the same again. We admitted Shanaze Reade to the Sporting Role of Honour.

How bloody brilliant that a small, music hall joke town like CREWE has two stunning Olympians to boast about! And women, to boot!

This thread was to do with celebrating our small town achievements.

We have Olympians in our Borough. Beth Tweddle, Shanaze Read ... strong and focused young women who have been assisted by our Council.

I chaired the Leisure Committee here for a fair few years and managed the Council's Leisure Strategy to ensure every fecker had access to affordable amenities.

Yes, I did that ..... me!
