Can you shed any light on what in fact the drummer red represents?

Druadan,
How's your R&R?
I've got my best man on the case (DL from training), he'll know what to do?
In training and during the rest of my time in The Corps, I don't recall our belt being referred to as a 'stable belt'. DROs, DLs, Booties etc always referred to it as 'Corps Pattern Belt'. My old DL (Hayrick on OAMAAM) used to say that only 'percy' calls it a stable belt.

Apparently all branches of the armed service have Stable Belts [allegedly]
But here's a description:

£12.99 - an absolute bargain!

The Colours on our Corps Pattern Belt as described by my DL in training (Hayrick) on OAMAAM:
The evidence is weighted in favour of the Corps Diary so far, M'lud.Steve, here is answer you want,
Yellow, (old gold, one part) 1664 coat colour.
Green, (light infantry green, one part) perpetuates light infantry title.
Red, (Drummer red, 2 parts) Tunic colour until 1876.
Blue, (Navy blue, 8 parts) connection with Royal Navy.

Seems we've gone full circle!Sisyphus wrote:The association with Corps Colours in the RM Diary is given as:
Yellow - 1664 coat colour
Green - RMLI
Red - Tunic colour until 1876
Blue - Connection with the RN
Ah, well. I think I'll have a large Woods' and not worry about it.
Ah, well. That'll be another large Woods' then!
Steve, was good mate ta, back out there/here now, only 5 weeks til end of tour tho so not too bad. Having to spend £80 on flowers for the missus cos I'm not home for Valentines on the other hand is not sitting well
Still referred to as the Corps pattern belt, although I believe 'officially' it is the stable belt of the Corps...I believe the majority of Army regiments wear them as part of their working rig.

Druadan,
The same topic is ongoing over on 'Once A Marine'. I'm going with what my DL told me and the Corps Diary.
There is also some discussion over there about the term 'stable belt' and 'Corps Pattern Belt'.
80 squids for some daisies? Get her a £1-99 bargain bucket bunch from Asda when you get home mate. Spend the other £78-01 on beer. If you need any further advice on romantic issues, don't hesitate to ask.

Even worse is the several grand she just had me deposit in a joint account ready for house-hunting when I get back...methinks I'll arrive to no house and large shoe cupboard...
Fortunately she doesn't know about my secret stash that's going on a new toy with an engine, this time on four wheels rather than two
I do love the money you save on tour, it's a great feeling spunking it all in your first two weeks home
