“The Regiments of the Household Cavalry and Royal Armoured Corps today are descendants of the famous Cavalry Regiments who rode into battle on horseback as heavy or light horsemen; and of the Royal Tank Regiment who manned the first tanks during the Great War.
Today, there are 16 regiments that make up the Household Cavalry (HCav), Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) and Territorial Army's Yeomanry Regiments (TA Yeo).
They are equipped with the most formidable fighting vehicles in the world. The five Armoured Regiments have the battle-proven Challenger 2 (CR2) Main Battle Tank (MBT), the five Formation Reconnaissance (FR) regiments have the agile Scimitar (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) - CVR(T)), and the Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Regiment (Jt CBRN Regt) has the Fuchs with its ability to detect hazardous materials in any environment.
In addition, the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR) provides mounted and some dismounted ceremonial duties for state and other occasions. “
The five Armoured Regiments are:
Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
Royal Dragoon Guards
Queen’s Royal Hussars
King’s Royal Hussars
2nd Royal Tank Regiment
The Formation Reconnaissance Regiments are:
Household Cavalry Regiment
Queen’s Dragoon Guards
9th/12th Lancers
Light Dragoons
Queen’s Royal Lancers (the “Death Or Glory” boys – check out their cap badge)
The ‘Chemical Regiments’ are:
1st Royal Tank Regiment
Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Regiment (consists of 1RTR and 27 Sqn RAF Regt working in partnership.)
The 4 Yeomanry regiments in the Royal Armoured Corps are:
Royal Wessex Yeomanry
Royal Yeomanry
Royal Mercian Lancastrian Yeomanry
Queen’s Own Yeomanry
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiments are:
The Blues and Royals
The Life Guards
Check this link. It gives details on each regiment’s history, current role, where they’re based etc

The ‘chemical regiment’ gives me the willies though.......
No bullplop! Unless you like living in gas chambers, sniffing dangerous substances and generally being pushed into potentially involuntary body popping situations, I’d give this one a swerve.....“Their high-profile specialist role calls for solders with a unique blend of skills and determination. “
If you want to know what I mean check this link or search for ‘the effects of nerve agent’ on Youtube..... (have your sick-bag ready)
