I was told that your results for the BARB test are put together with the qualifications you already have and then they are able to work out what jobs you are eligible for.
I got given my results and had them explained too, I thought it was out of so many but I was told, 'attempted __ got ___ correct'

Thats not a word i would use to describe the BARB test, Ok it was not the most difficult test i have ever undertaken but it certainly was not boring, Got the old brain working.

To be honest, I found the BARB test boring. Yeah, it definately got the old mind a-stretchin', but you have to be thinking quickly for a prolonged amount of time.. 10 minutes in I was constantly thinking ''God I hope it's nearly done.''

You should definately have been given your score though, because your score obviously defines what you can and can't do. I don't think it's a question of how tough the questions are, because they aren't tough at all, it's just the speed at which you have to answer. One thing I found to be a great help was to mutter the question to myself whilst reading it. Then once the question disappears and the answer choices come on the screen, you can mutter the question to yourself at super-speed, it just seemed a lot easier to do that. Don't worry too much about it though, I scored 74 yet I still recall making several conscious mistakes.

The joblist is based on your score, on it, you will find that next to each job is the score you're required to achieve.

Exactly right

The computer will also take into account your GCSE results, so make sure your recruiter has put them on the system, otherwise they wont show up on your joblist.

Your basic skills also impact on your job list.

I work for an American oil company as a solvent/chemical operator and to be honest the company still use something similar to the barb test. Not sure how long the Army have been using this type of test and what they used before.

Anyway, dependant on what job you apply for depends on the score you have to obtain where I work. The truth is that the younger lads always do better because they were at school the last. :o  No pass, no job or promotion.

My advise to anybody about to join is go to WHS or similar and purchase the type of books that test the brain.

The wife is at present looking for admin jobs with the council, civil servant etc and they all seem to have to sit a test now a days.
