Hi everyone,
I have a question about the medical records that are required from my GP.
The thing is, I don't have a registered GP, and the last time I ever went to the doctor were many, many years ago when I was living in a different part of the country, so the chances of my medical records ever being located and slim to none.
I understand that you can register at any medical clinic.
If I were to register now whilst my application is going through, and presuming they are unable to locate my past medical record, would I still experience any problems with the application, as my new medical record will only cover from when I registered?
Thanks

Medical Records
I have the same problem.
I phoned the Leeds AFCO about this and they said that the Army docs will have a look at me when I go to the Army Development and Selection centre. So not to worry.
Thing is, your better off ringing your AFCO about any questions like this because they have all the up to date information you might need. And that's what they are there for.

[quote="ITMatt"]Hi everyone,
I have a question about the medical records that are required from my GP.
I'm looking to join up but had nightmare with wrist injury for years.
I'm ok now but will it affect me when they see my medical records?
Can I say I can't locate my records?
I'm happy to be seen by army docs as I
know I'm ok now. do you have to let them see your
past records? i'm not with a GP now anyway

Jakey,
DO NOT LIE!!!!
If the AFCO does'nt find out and you are accepted, then the truth comes out,you could be discharged and not MD'ed but Dishonourably.
Get your previous GP to write to your AFCO,any medical records should be centeralised so finding them should not be a prob.
I have not lived in the UK for over twenty five years but when I did return my medical records were on file in Colchester.
Hope this helps.

You should definitely tell them - hiding anything at all is likely to come back and bite you in the arse later on.Wicksieboiirafreg wrote:Hello
I want to join the royal engineers im going down the AFCO tomorrow i have OCD should i tell them?
Will i still be able to join as my condition is very mild and rarely affects me anymore.
I havent had any problems with it for 4years now.
Thankyou
Something like OCD will be flagged up when they double check before you get very far anyway so if you try to hide it you'll only end up looking silly.
Tell them the truth and let them decide whether you're fit to serve, at the end of the day if you lie and do somehow manage to get in (extremely unlikely), you'll be unfit to serve and could pose a danger to yourself or others in a forces-style work environment (even if its not combat related).
For questions like this its always best to give your AFCO a call I think.

Sorry to say this Wicksieboiirafreg (Brilliant username by the way!), but OCD is a bar to the armed forces as far as I know:
However the AFCO will have full details.
http://www.armyjobs.mod.uk/howdoijoin/c ... ition.aspxUnfortunately and understandably, there are many medical conditions that are not compatible with Army service.
So before you apply it's important that you reveal your complete medical history. Please see below for a list of some of the conditions that may make you unsuitable for Army enlistment....
Psychiatric Problems
Schizophrenia. Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Alcohol or drug dependence. Post-traumatic stress disorder.
However the AFCO will have full details.
