Hi all!
Since Febuary 2008 I decided I would try for my life long dream of becomming a Royal Marine. I was going to try and join up at 16, but well the long and short is I never went through with it, which I really regret.
Now at the tender age of 29 and 10 months, Im applying.
Before I put my application in I made sure I was fit - atleast fit enough build on and get to a decent standard.
The first hurdle I have encountered is that I was diganosed as having Ceoliacs Disease as a baby.
Which MOD deem me medically unfit to serve??
Having never had the symptoms ive had tests, which came back negative, which means it was a misdiagnosis (the Doctor has written a nice letter to say so).
I have done a few of the basic tests, but everything now depends on the medical.
Assuming the medical goes without a hitch, im wondering what time frame people normally do their PRMC after applying?
What is the frequency of the PRMC?
Ive been advised that it might not be till August, it just seems quite a way off.
I know ive waitied 14 years already, so whats 3 months, but when ur not working towards anything its easy. When you want somthing intensly, 3 months is like a lifetime.

Taxman, tis good to hear your dream may not be shattered after all.
If you check out my signature, it has the time frames of how long everything took. Bare in mind, however, between the eye test and interview, my application was put on hold for 3 MONTHS due to the careers officer believing I wasnt fit enough, which looking back, I wasnt.

I think I had ceoliacs disease when I was a baby, its an intolerance to wheat or something isnt it?But somehow i just got over it and started eating anything and everything at an early age;I wasn't aware that something like this may affect my application? Can you shed anymore light on this?
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'
Hi, thx for the reply.
Degrees of passion: I have to let you know what happens in my medical, I cant really give advice until then. I, like you, was diagnosed as a baby but ate foods I was told I shouldnt, with never any reaction. AFAIK, Ceoliacs is genetic, you either have it, or not, which is why I was pleased my results came back negative.
If its in your medical history, then you might want to talk to your careers officer about it.
