At 3:41 in part 1 the guy is cleaning what looks to be a pistol. I thought it was just SF that carried pistols or am I wrong?

You've got me all confused now I thought Sf only carry pistols and regular troops carry water pistols heard them taliban are like witches and melt when in contact with water thats why they smell so much!

That's the bit your're wrong on. He was cleaning a pistol but you don't have to be SF to carry one.

Dunno, looks like part of his SA80. Thought it was a pistol myself at first.

They were the Royal Anglians, so its likely they were packing I85a1's so I doubt it would be an SA80 A2 as the Royal Marines use these,

Not 100% sure though so someone correct me if I'm wrong

You do know that the l85a1 is an SA80 don't you? No one actually previously mentioned the A2 but in any case the A1 was upgraded into the current issue weapon the A2; both the A1 and the upgraded A2 were/are in use by the army not exclusively the Royal Marines. So there is no reason that the Royal Anglians wouldn't be the SA80 A2

The standard british infantry rifle is the SA-80 A2 , Not just bootnecks use them . Most troops carry pistols now as a backup if they run out of rounds.....simple :D

Although if you do pause frame it over the clip it does look less like an actual pistol and more like just a part of a rifle. Although I think its kind of moving away from the whole point of the series as to whether it is/isn't a pistol etc.

All front line troops us the SA80 A2. Why would they use an inferior weapon proven to be a total waste of space be it in the Ulu, the SandPit or the Arctic?
