Insight course

Post by chris-bristol »

Hi there everyone, I'm interested in attending an insight course at some point this year. I am hoping to apply for officer entry later this year but would like to get the benefit of the insight course before making the decision of whether to attempt Para reg selection or not.

Can anybody that has previously attended the course tell me if many of the guys on it were planning to go the officer route or if it was mainly aimed at those looking at the soldier route?

Any info much appreciated.

The insight course is mainly geared towards recruits rather than those who want to be officers. Not quite sure what you mean by Para Reg selection. If you want to be an officer in the Paras you must either:

Route 1
1. Pass the AOSB Briefing
2. Pass the Para Potential Officer Interview
3. Pass the Potential Officer Course
4. Pass the AOSB
5. Do sufficiently well in Sandhurst to get commissioned into the Reg
6. Pass AA P Coy

Route 2
1. Pass AOSB and gain sponsorship from another reg.
2. In Sandhurst work your b0ll0x off and apply to the Reg
3. Pass AA P Coy

Route 3
1. Be Commissioned as an officer in a regiment and apply for a transfer into the Reg
2. Pass AA P Coy

Hope that helps.

Cheers James, I'm well aware of the routes. I just used the word selection to refer to the overall process and save writing interview, POC etc etc.

Alright Chris. When I went on the insight course, there was only one guy who was planning to join as an officer. He got a bit of stick from the staff about it, but it was all in good fun.

OK, cheers for the info. Don't mind a bit of stick, all part of the experience, if it wasn't for wanting to be an officer it would be for being ginger anyway :)
