My names Mike, I'm a sixth form student in South Wales and my application has been accepted for the Royal Marines Reserve and I have my psychometric test on the 5th Febuary, I bought the "how to become a Royal Marines Commando" cd but it does not mention anything about the pass rate fot he psychometric test.
Can any one tell me the pass rate please, that would be a great help
And also is anyone else at the Cardiff AFCO for this test that day?
The test involves four sections, General Reasoning, Numeracy Reasoning, Literacy Reasonng and Mechanical Comprehension. For all of them it is either ..... Reasoning or ..... Comprehension, can't remember which!
You get a certain amount of tie for each, 9 minuets I belive for the first three, then 16 for Mechanical, again, not 100% sure but you get the idea. Basically, you get a question and then the answer is either A, B, C or D. You get two booklets, one with the questions, the other with the multile choice answers. There is space for rough work but don't write on the question book! Some of the lads in mine did and they had to be corrected.
I was told when my test was by someone from Plymouth AFCO ringing me up and he then sent along a question booklet the next day. I got 2 weeks to prepare. The test is progressive, so as you go on in the section, te questions get harder. Therefore, don't panic if you don't finish the section. The time will FLY so don't think, I'll come back to this one, because you won't and that was probably my biggest mistake. Also, being progressive, the booklet only provides some pretty easy-ish question, so make sure you do some on the web. Print them out, time yourself, then go back on and mark them. Again I didn't do enough practice before hand.
Use the search button mate, this is a quite popular topic and on previous threads there are some links. As well as extra advice etc. Remember on they day, dress fairly smart (on mine, there was Chav, who turned up in trackies and the WHITEST coat you have ever seen, complete with a burbery lined hood), make sure you are well hydrated and have something to eat. Don't let the nerves get to you!
