Seriously being considering swapping to booties from navy recently, but theres a few things I'd like to know first... I'd rather ask here and then go ask my DO at a later date to be honest; he's a bit of a cock...
1. I pick up my killicks (corporal) soon, would I lose them?
2. What would happen to my pay, would it go back down to basic wage?
3. Would it add anything on to my return of service?
...and any other bits of info that might be useful...

Q1. Yes you would lose your Killicks rate.MonsterMunch wrote:Seriously being considering swapping to booties from navy recently, but theres a few things I'd like to know first... I'd rather ask here and then go ask my DO at a later date to be honest; he's a bit of a cock...

Q2. Your pay would remain the same as far as I can remember.
Q3. Your time within the service would remain the same. So If you have done 6 years say in the Andrew that service time will still count towards your pension if you transfer to the Bootnecks.

Greetings MonsterMunch. Had a great night at the bop in Collingwood many moons ago - ended up being chased around by the reggies but they never caught us - anyway it wasn't us it was some bigger boys that did it and then they ran off
Not sure what your return of service question means but as Artist says your pensionable service will take account of your time in the navy but I doubt that you would gain automatic seniority for promotion. There was an ex matelot steward in my troop who did well in training - by the same token there was an ex clearance diver in the troop in front of us who freddied/wrapped. "Do not presume, one of the sinners was damned; do not despair, one of the sinners was saved" (St Augustine and then Samuel Beckett in Waiting for Godot). Up to you basically
You'll have a return of service on basic training meaning that you'll have to serve in the Corps for a few years before you're able to put your (one years notice) chit in to go outside. I think the return of service was two and a half years when I was in and 18 months notice after that. I'd doubt that your navy time would count towards that two and a half years. As a trained rank you do further courses that each have their own return of service requirement.

What branch are you? Option to do the Cdo course as a matelot and serve with?
Booties are very strange, (previous posters affirm
)
But like artiste says you will lose your hook, pay will stay same, service counts as you are still Naval-ish. Few guys have done it, I know two at least. I also know one bootneck who went the other way............and one who transferred to the Navy too.

Just clocked you are a WEA, so not much option of going Cdo in that branch really.
You will do the PRMC first and expect a fight from your DO, but it is your right to request, just have your story right and dont falter. Your service will have to be repaid like Sulls mentioned.
Expect some stick, but once green lided you will be ok, just like any other royal then.
They will look at you to lead and help on PRMC as you are a trained rank
Good luck
