Ross Kemp in afganistan

Post by Stokey_14 »

Sorry I didn't post this sooner (been boxing since 6), but tonight at 9 on sky one there a "Ross kemp in Afghanistan" program, basically Ross kemp out there on the front line with the young lads fighting in Afghanistan.

Don't know what to expect but should be a decent watch.

Sure a lot of you have seen the advert

All the best

There's a linky on MF to the first episode but that doesn't work.
It'll be on YouTube before we know it. C'mon.

Was a good program, thoroughly enjoyed it, think it's great how he’s getting out there on the front line him self.

Showed the other side of the story you don't often here about, family etc

Really well made problem I thought, didn't rush into the heavy bang bang bits as you suspected a Ross Kemp program might. Showed the true toll on families left behind, as well as the effects on the young lads themselves. Watching the guys prepare themselves to go, and to watch the repatriation really hits home I felt, especially drawing in on young lads, really pushing home what they must be goign through. 5 stars from me so far as far as meeting what it set out to show.

I thought it was quite hard hitting, in a way its good that sky are doign a program such as this, in another way its bad that sky are doing a program like this. If this was on a free broadcast channel then it would reach a much wider audience, and I think that for a lot of people watchign this program would alter a lot of their opinions totally, and make even people who appreciate the forces have even greater respect. Hopefully they'll show it on free Sky 3 sometime in the near future.

Was reading in Nuts that Mr Kemp continuously had the urine extracted by the squaddies for his starring role as one of THEM in Ultimate Force. Looking forward to this coming up on Youbute - pesky Sky

Looks good. I started to respect Kemp after he started doing On Gangs, which I thought was excellent.

Very good show i thought, looking forward to the rest in the series.

Also that one private cant remember his name looked completely different from being there a few weeks, looked like he'd aged 10 years.

I've just watched it and thought it was excellent and very moving too. Really makes you appreciate what soldiers and their families go through. You don't usually find that in most programs, which often focus on the fighting only. It should be essential viewing for everyone, especially all those c@#t (for lack of a better word) who seem to look down at soldiers from their ivory towers. It's programs like this that make me want to join the forces more than ever, because seeing what these young men go through really makes me feel guilty that I'm not out there now sharing the responsibility.

Ross Kemp is on par with Jeremy Clarkson easily. Looking forward to the next program.

YouTube! F*ckin get in. 8)
Cheers Alfa.

Mr. Kemp probably didn't get it with another other channel because they more than likely couldn't be bothered to waste their time and money on providing him with a timeslot on their schedule full of sh!t.

Good on him for doing it anyway. I'd buy him a pint for making this.

Exactly. Especially when there's other lads out on the street's and in clubs doing sweet-fa, taking drugs, commiting crime and pissing their lives away. People like that don't give a second's thought to the freedom's that they so unjustly enjoy in their actions.

The young guys going out there is one thing but for the older guys with families and especially young kids, max respect for them and their brave wives.

I have to agree. Having never been to Afghanistan before I thought I had as good an understanding as a civilian could without having been there themself. Nah, this programme has put me right back into my place.

Even though its the first in the series, I've told my mum to watch it just so as she could understand what it'd have been like if I'd joined. For the first time ever, I actually pictured myself in Helmand and realised how hard it must be to adapt back to civilisation. How can someone possibly go from that kind of environment one day to a culture where a parking ticket is seen as a bad day. It makes you think that few things in life actually matter at all.

Total respect to anyone who has done it and if I ever join the police (which has been crossing my mind) I certainly will be turning a blind eye to minor offences if a MOD90 is produced and I can get away with it.

I'm shocked to see this was on Sky One. Partly because I have Virgin so can't get Sky One (thank God for youtube!), but mainly because this should be essential viewing. It should be on before the news on BBC1!
