If i joined the RMR while at Uni, how would i go about trying to join as an officer in the regulars once i get my degree?

As far as I know you will have to be discharged from the RMR and then re-apply for POC. This is what I'm doing.

Going to uni this september, and applying for RMR as a commando. After 3 years and graduating, I shall re-apply as an Officer.

I take it that you know you can apply to be a PIG (Officer) and get your Uni Degree paid for by the Corps of Royal Marines?

You apply the normal way through the AFCO, just tell him tht is your plan and he'll sort you out. Once you've sorted your application you will continue as if you had applied for normal officer entry not a bursary. Thats as far as I ever got, but you then continue to do a POC and if you pass that you go for your AIB; having passed both of them then they'll sort out paying you for your degree.

You do the POC and AIB and if you pass them both then they pay for your degree, so you'll already have been accepted. If you take the money though and then decide not to go into the Marines for whatever reason then you owe them the money back, but you do have that option to back out if for some reason you choose to do so.

I have to say for the people here who think that they need to wait a few years to become more mature etc that they are probably more mature than they think they are as most people think they know it all at that age(I know I have been guilty of that, he he he).

When I had my interview and mentioned going to university the Captain never mentioned them paying for my course, he just mentioned a bursary and scholarship. Is it possible that they have changed policy?

A bursary is the scheme that will pay for your course. I lost track of these as I didn't go for one in the end. Did they increase the amount of money you get when tuition fees went up a couple of years ago?

A bursary is £1500 a year which is nowhere near enough to pay for your whole course. I have seen something called a university cadetship but I am under the understanding that it is only for the Navy as you have to complete a full year of Naval training before them paying for you to go to uni.

To be honest Mitch I never got far enough so couldn't tell you, you may be right. I was sort of told there were several routes of doing it. I know my brother is gettign his degree paid for totally plus extra but he had to complete Sandhurst first. The key point from my post was really go see the AFCO if interested, and not to worry about failing, because you have already been accepted before they give you any money.

Yeah that's fair enough. My friend is joining the army and has got a scholarship for 6th form and uni which is slightly less a year than the RM bursary. He will be mighty pissed off when i tell him they could have paid the whole course!
