Any help or ideas??

Post by Dave_1987 »

Right then, I did a particularly hard circuit session tonight which mainly involved doing lots of leg work, squats, lunges etc all with weight in the first half then concentrated on upperbody in the second half. I was doing press-ups on a step up thingy both downhill and uphill as it were, my legs though were shaking really really badly and I stopped because it looked like my legs were having a mini-fecking fit!! lol, it got to the point where I stopped cus i didnt wanna scare people in the gym into phoning an ambulance lol. I mentioned this to the gym instructor and he said it might be because I did a lot of leg work and maybe the nervous system was a bit shook up. To be fair I don't really do that many press-ups on a step up thing so that might be why aswell.

Sorry to waffle on but any help is appreciated!!

Cheers,
Dave.

Did a quick search and found this:

------------------------------------------------------------

You say you are working out hard! Are you cooling down gradually or are you stopping your exercise abruptly? If you stop abruptly your circulation will be challenged and lack of oxygen to the muscles will cause them to spasm.

Get advice from a trainer about all aspects of excercise eg fluid intake, warming up and cooling down periods, working aerobicly and checking your heartbeat etc etc etc.

Exercise without proper understanding of your body's needs is PUNISHMENT!

More input from other users:

* I used to body build, I would work out pretty hard and some times I would do some leg work first then go stand in front of the mirrors to do some shoulder raises and biceps work. some times my legs would shake badly and almost give out on me. This was just because I got a great work out.

* Your legs shake like that because you worked out hard. Your legs are tired and need to recover from a hard workout. Squats will do that to you with heavy weight. It means you're doing a good job.
