Hi in SA we don’t have GCSE's but rather use a matriculation exemption system. Is anyone able to tell me what the matric equivalent is in order to get in as an officer. Thanx, may sound like a bone question but I really have no clue!!

Sorry, I haven't got a clue, but a rough guideline is that if you'd be able to go to university with your qualifications, you'll have enough to get in as an officer.
The minimum is 2 A-levels and 5 A-C GCSEs. I'm not sure on exact equivalence, but as I understand it A-levels are like South African Senior Certificates.
Incidentally, most candidates far exceed the minimum, with degrees being commonplace.
Isn't it all measured in UCAS point now? I.E. each qualification is worth a certain number of point, I know my sport science BTEC that I hope to do has the same amount of UCAS points as 4 A-levels.
If I remember rightly that’s what the bloke at the AFCO said
In his location is says South Afrcia. So not English but a member of the Commonwealth.
Thats not a bone question, I was born in SA, but because my dad was british I count as a British citizen. So over here I am treated the same as any of you lot for signing up.
But I hope the original poster is aware of how the SA government treats people who leave to fight for another country...
I have read somewhere that two of your GCSEs have to be in Mathematics and English Language. If you manage to get a degree then you achieve automatic direct graduate entrance for POC. Not sure what the equivelant for this is in SA but well worth a mention about Maths and Language.

Daividemmerson you know it is possible that he maybe just maybe moved from England to South Africa???? You know once you have been in one country you don’t have to stay there and never leave.
I'm in the same situation as you Mr Kiwi, I'm a Saffa with a british passport.and ja I've heard about the mercenary bill. but some saffa's who are in already have been told by the powers that be not to worry too much about it for the moment.
