I agree Sarasrto, and as usual i may be wrong and please oh mighty ones go easy on me if i am,but........

I cannot imagine it being acceptable to post an application or whatever to 21 SAS and write on the envelope to '21st special air service regiment'...it would,i reckon, just be the name of the building or barracks or PO box or MOD and postcode.

Also 10 miles in an hour is nonsense as has been laid to rest many times on this site,by the end of pre-selection i would imagine most recruits could handle that but to start with its 8 miles over a good wee course in 64 mins or less-the ds will run faster than that but will tolerate if your slightly behind, they wont let you wear a watch either so forget timing yourself! 8)

23 send you to cic-no idea about 21,sbs(r) need you to be already serving in a unit to transfer over to them.

I'll leave it at that as there is folk here know a lot more about 21 and 23 than me and will probably jump on me for even daring to reply to this thread.

Quick question.

Is it ok to do CIC with your local TA reg then apply for 23 selection? or will you still be sent to 4PARA first?

Also if you don't pass selection can you return to your old TA reg.

I think even an 'average' marathon would be pressed to maintain a 6 min mile...

The 2007 London Marathon winner (also 4th in world standings) knocked out 5 min miles.
Yur, I was actually standing on the line doing security with 4 PARA as he came in. Almost got stampeeded by his two effing huge African trainer / manager / entourage mates, who each had a good 6 inches & several stone on me & in great spirits, but totally oblivious to the fact that a paracyclist was speeding right towards them until I had to manhandle them back across the line. Was sure a TV camera would catch it & next day the News of the Screws headline would be PARA RACE DISGRACE!

As such, I also got to see that a lot of the club runner amateurs actually beat the pros. Places 1-5 or thereabouts went to professional runners, and after that club runners started coming in as well, doing similar times. 30 minutes later (ie 6 min miles) there were swarms of people coming through, so there are actually a lot of amateurs who can hack that pace.

I was surprised too, don't think I'd be doing 6 min miles!

Do it regularly actually (every year perhaps?), there were some crabs there too last year; sort of PR thing for the military & money saver for the event organisers I guess. The physios & St. Johns staff there are all volunteers as well.

Natural charm and devilish good looks, I imagine.

They had definitely done it before, guessing we'll do it again, not sure whether it's every year though, they might rotate units.

Not too bad. They changed P-coy dates at the last minute to a week I can't do it. So, going again in April it looks like.
