Darren how long ago was it that your mate passed out from your troop? There is nothing wrong with my attitude I have taken things on board but still no answer... Easy for you to tell me to stop worrying, you not the one going through all of this.
Not sure why people are getting soo annoyed with this, I STILL havent got a definite answer!
If this thread annoys any of you lot just dont read it anymore.
If I hand in my application the first thing is the hour long interview, next the aptitude tests and medical. My AFCO told me its up to the medical officer about my tattoo's so i sort of need to get that far to find out. Bit i cant as I dont feel ready for the PJFT just yet.

The reason people are getting sick of this this is that you keep asking the same question over and over again.
You've been told not to worry by your AFCO, isn't that enough?
Even if the tattoos aren't a problem, you may fail on something else, so no-one can give you a cast iron guarantee that you'll get in.

Of course the answer i got from my AFCO wasn't enough that is why I thought about asking on here.Tartan_Terrier wrote:The reason people are getting sick of this this is that you keep asking the same question over and over again.

Riggsy, you better learn nothing in life is guarenteed. Your not the only 1 in that type of situation, i've got shit eyesight, I probably won't have a snowballs chance in hell of passing the medical with even my glasses on.
I've got to travel to london to a vision clinic from the North which will take about 3-4 hours, then see if I can even have the treatment done, and even if I have it done, there's still no guarentee that i'll pass my medical.
Just carry on and train, it can't take you that long to get fit enough for the PJFT can it? Just get a basic level of fitness.Bt as far as the tattoo concern goes I think your mind won't rest until you start the application and do your medical. Everyone gets worried about failing 1 thing or another while joining the forces. I don't think it's your actual question that's pissing people off, it's the way you reply to the people that are trying to help you and make you open your eyes a bit,i'm pretty sureyou won't get a definate answer on here about the tattoo.

Point 1. This is a site that gives info to people looking to join the RM, so many are going through the same thing as you. You're not unique mate. So listen to what they are telling you.Riggsy wrote:1. Easy for you to tell me to stop worrying, you not the one going through all of this.

Point 2. You have had many positive answers to your whinges, people telling you that your application should be fine. But you seem to like the thought of failing rather than taking the positives and cracking on with it.
Point 3. You have it figured out. Fine. Do the interview - if you get through that - the psychometric test - If you pass then - Go get the medical done and see what they say!! if it's not a problem then great for you. You should be doing a lot of exercise these days, and if, by then you are not ready for the PJFT, don't stress, just tell them to postpone it for a few weeks or whatever. simple. sort of .
Good luck.
Another foreigner...figures.
Passed out. 25th of July 2008!

Riggsy mate
I'm afraid your going to have to live with not having an answer until the medical, if the doc is the one who makes the decsion.
I have been waiting over a year now for my four years to clear so I can rejoin because I was perscribed an inhaler in training. The Doctor told be I can't rejoin untill FEB 08 and even then he is going to ask my doctor about my medical history.
You may well lie awake at night with this buzzing around in your head "will I get in?? Won't I get it??" I have been like this for over a year. I couldn't speed up time (even though I wanted to) so I
finished year two of my degree
got a bronze certification in navigation
learnt a bit of arabic
learnt morse (to a degree) and phonetics
did some microsoft exams
make my self sick on a number of gershler fartlek runs
got good at handstands and general planches
now I'm getting into kettlebells, I have two months until I can apply and will have my medical in feb if he says NO that is it, I will never be a Royal Marine. But I realised along time ago that letting a decsion which you have no control over rule you is not what being a Royal Marine is about.
If you can't wait for an answer, get the interview sorted get the medical done, then you have a month before pjft, its not that bloody hard and you could easily get fit enough within a month, then blast it on the day and pass. If you don't feel your ready for the pjft then train until you feel ready, it won't take that long then go for the application.
The above is a decsion you do have control over, I understand how hard it is when you want something like this but patience is a virtue.
By the way I had my Medical before my interview both times I have applied and my AFCO told me that would be the case this time also.
Good Luck

Great reply mate cheers ^^
As a matter of fact I phoned up another AFCO today, the bloke said the same thing "I SHOULD be ok" he said the best thing to do was to start the application and crack on. I said I don't feel fit enough he said don't worry we work around you, you can put things on hold as long as you want.
So pretty much the same thing your saying.
It is a bit stupid that you can't find out until the medical, which doesn't come until you have 1/ Had an hour long talk with your AFCO 2/ Pass the apitutde test 3/ Pass the interview.
Cheers for most that replied to this thread you did help me, sorry if I have annoyed people.

Riggsy.
I had a a problem.. I had tendonitis.. and I had the same dilemma about if I would get in or not.. It got to the Medical and I've now been deferred for 6 months (also cause I didnt weigh enough..) so I now have 5 months left in which to train and like the post above if the doc says no thats it I will never be a Marine either.
Point being like Im sure people have said, just crack on with your training end of the day even if you dont get in the Marines. You'll still of gained a nice bit of fitness and thats still a plus.
Dont worry about it mate, crack on with the application and see what happens.
