Super Marine - In Daily Mirror Today
Little story in the mirror.
------------------------------
"Hero lifts 2-tonne truck to save drowning mate"
A hero Marine saved a drowning pal by lifting a two-tonne truck off his leg during a Taliban attack in Afghanistan.
Colour sergeant Carl Tatton, 38, has been nick-named The Incredible Bulk for his strength and bravery during the amazing rescue.
Fellow Royal Marine Mark Farr, 29, was working in a water-filled ditch when the pair came under mortar attack in Gereshk.
Physical training instructor Carl heard Mark scream for help after one shell blasted their truck off a track into the ditch. The vehicle landed on Mark's leg leaving him trapped under water.
AdvertisementCarl, now back in Plymouth, Devon, said: "When you see one of your mates in danger you just react. He was seconds from drowning.
"I jumped in and tried to lift his head up but realised I'd have to lift up the truck.
"I grabbed the roll bar and lifted the suspension enough to release him."
Mark said: "Without Carl I'd have drowned. I owe him my life."

That's maybe because it's old news, it was reported by the sun back in November 2006.Dangermouse wrote:I've heard of Carl Tatton before, but can't remember where. Probably a telly program, but anyway, sheer brilliance.

A MARINE lifted a two-ton truck to save a drowning comrade ? while under mortar fire.
The Pinzgauer vehicle tipped over in a drainage ditch, trapping Mark Farr.
Colour Sgt Carl Tatton, nicknamed Tatts, dodged exploding shells to race to the scene.
Using superhuman strength, he hoisted the truck’s roll bar high enough for his pal to get free. Fellow commando Mark, 29, had trapped his leg under the vehicle. He said last night: “Without Tatts I’d have drowned. I owe him my life.”
But modest Carl, 37, a physical training instructor, insisted he was only doing his job.
The men were supplying comrades from 42 Commando with ammo, food and water when they came under fire from the Taliban in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.

Like I said I saw it in the Mirror the other day!
I hadn't seen the Sun article.
But the guy in the pic doesn't look like the guy in the paper.
