The Whole 3 Miler now run as a squad on PRMC

Post by add01 »

I looked on the Royal Marines official site and found this on the page about the Prmc.
3 mile run: The first physical test is on the morning of Day 1. The whole 3 miles is run as a squad. This is your opportunity to show the team how well your training has gone. The main aim is to complete the 3 miles in 22.5 minutes or you will fail the course. Remember all physical activities on the PRMC commence with an appropriate warm up - Train accordingly

Is this right, is there anybody thatt has done a prmc recently who can testify (not sure if thats the right word :-? ) this?

When I done my PRMC, the 3 miler was run as a squad. This was Nov 2000. They brought the 1.5 squad/1.5 best effot later. Haven't heard that it changed back.

a lot of the info on their site is out of date. I havent checked within the last 20 or so days but last time I was there it still put the PJFT as 10:30

Im assuming they mean you run as a squad, as in, you all run together, at the same time. Much different then the run on the PJFT where it's just you and a treadmill.

The PJFT is def under 10 mins,
But by the looks of it the 3 miler on PRMC is back to being ran as a squad rather than half as a squad and half best effort.

Personally I don't think it should matter if you run it as a squad or individual best effort, three miler catches alot of people out from what I've read and heard.

I think it would be better to prepare for both, it shouldn't be an issue, if I ever get to my PRMC I'm not going to allow the 3 miler to beat me. So make sure you train enough so that you know you will get past the 3 miler.

End of the day I presume they can run the PRMC as they want, doesn't seem to be written in stone about the rules, train for every scenario make things a lot easier for yourself.
