After Training...

Post by lukeyluke »

I'm probably being gash with the search button on this one but I have had a look around and can't find much so I was hoping someone might be able to provide some info on the following…

1) How much leave do you get after passing out if any?

2) What’s the routine when you join your unit? I suppose what I’m getting at here is, what’s the situation as far as getting stuck in goes as the unit is going to be a mixture of experienced lads and not so experienced lads and could be half way through a training phase for a particular task?

3) Is there usually a bunch of new lads added at one time?

Any info would be appreciated here, bit of a broad question I’m just trying to get my head round what to expect. I know I’ve got to pass the PRMC and get through RT yet but it would be nice to know what I am looking forward to :D

Cheers

It's meant to be 27 days a year, thats what your AFCO should of told you ;)
and i think it's just exercises in Norway, learning new skills techniques, PT PT and apparently more PT :)

1. Two weeks Chrimbo, two weeks Easter, 3 weeks summer is the norm. You will also get pre/post operational leave when going away. If you mean directly after training, none - you pass out Friday and rock up at your unit Tuesday.

2. Do what you're told. You'll adapt and fit in pretty quickly - if the unit is away when you join, you may just get stuck doing odd jobs in rear party til they return and you get put in your company.

3. A troop passes out every two weeks. Therefore every two weeks each unit will get however many new lads. So generally, if you're going to a fighting unit as most do, there'll be a few of you going from your troop, but the chances of you getting the same company are slim, and the same troop almost none.
