Psychometric tests

Post by SteveA »

Hi Guys.

I've got my AOSB briefing coming up in September and was wondering if any one had advice for the psychometric tests?

I have downloaded the questions on the AOSB website. They seem reasonable but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

This is my advice for the marines tests but the army should be the same.
Take your own watch, there may not be a clock there.
Just before the finish, tick as many boxes as you can because the ones you get wrong don't deduct from your score.

on my test which was a few months ago the maths part was the trickiest not hard theirs just a lot of it addition so just do a bit of that with biggish numbers and just getting faster and more fluent with them because its quite hard to finish that part the rest is quite easy if you read over th example test booklet so you understand what the pschycometric test is all about they're sly.
psychometric test- passed
eye test- passed
interview- passed
medical- passed
pjft- passed
prmc- passed

Hello mate,

I've also got my AOSB briefing in Sept so I guess I'll see you there! :)

As for the tests, my careers office gave me some example tests which I've worked through to get a good idea of what to expect...

Someone left a good tip a while back. If you're really struggling with a question, leave it (mark it or remember which you didn't do) then move on. After this, go back and try the tougher ones with the time remaining.

Regarding the test at AOSB, it is very tight on time and when i did it i didnt finish any of the parts completely. It didnt matter and i still passed but you have to work so fast. The questions are not very hard but there are alot of them. Good luck.

Not possible, the tests are computerised, and I'm 99.9% sure there is no 'back' button.

Theres usually a button called 'Flag' which if pressed on a question at the end of the test it takes you back to the ones you flagged to try again.

Like I said, can't remember 100% but pretty sure there is no flag button.

You arrive smart Chloe, it's only two half-days, so not much time for messing around. AOSB proper is a little more relaxed on time.

As for the rest of it, I'd ignore most of the advice in this thread (sorry fellas), because it is for different kinds of tests. The psychometric tests are really very basic in form, so there isn't much you can do to prepare for them. Aside from that, just be yourself, remember you are working as part of a team. and give 100% on the phys.

Good luck!
