Training in North London?
I EAT CANNIBALS
Hampstead Heath is hands down the best place in North London. Big green area (about as wild as London gets) with a couple of halfway decent hills to run up, as well as plenty of woods / rough ground to do some cross-country. Also includes a public athletics track, an open-air swimming pool, the Lido (only open May-September though as far as I know), and several ponds which you can swim in. By ponds, I mean small lakes the size of several Olympic swimming pools, and they are open all year round, but from October-April don't tend to go much above 9'C, and hover around 3'-4'C in the winter months. Make you a man though, arr!
Only problem is, I'm not sure if it is too accessible from where you are, might be a bit of a trek. If you have a bike or motorvehicle of some form, it will only take you 20 mins or so to get there, but otherwise the transport is a bit of a nightmare around North London.
All the other parks and such which are good for running are in central London (basically only Regent's Park and Hyde Park), which might be an option if you are working / studying near them.
