I have a few questions
Specialising in being a Swimmer Canoeist firstly you have to go through the UK Special Forces (UKSF) selection....which tells you all this in the green bible that you can either send off for or collect from your AFCO....Providing you pass that then you'll be SC from the start as far as I know because thats just like Marine General Duty soldier, basically thats what your trained for before specialising....I may be wrong here so dont take my word for it....Not done it myself so cant give you much advise....same with becoming a Sniper you can apply for it but whether you gte it or not is different case, I think my mate put his stuff in for Snipes course but got pinged for sigs because they needed the power there, he doesnt like it but get all your driving licences paid for etc which is good for when you go back civvy street, ask down your AFCO though mate they'll tell ya most of what you want to know, or like someone said ring that number and ask them because thats their job to give you the advice you want.
Never Quit-Quitting is for those who are not serious about achieveing their goals.
Be honest, they'll pick up on it if your not, just relax I was bricking it when I had my interview etc but they're all sound its not really a test theyre just there to talk to you and most of them are sound! Good luck!

I also remember reading somewhere that if you want to try out for specialist training you have to talk to your CO (Commanding Officer).

Fido forget about SF that is a long way off! Refrence snipes its just an adqual not a specialisation. Not many people pass the course first time round. If you do pass the course its dosn't stop you being pinged for other SQ's so dont think you are safe and will spend the rest of your life as a GD Marine, as for the AFCO most are Tri-service. If you live in some where like Pompy or Guz there may be a Navy only AFCO all though i dont see what relevence its got if its Tri service or not?

why is it changed? i though it run as a normal pace thoughout, thus depending on who takes you out for the run you can finish it between 21 mins(which is main target) and 22:30 for the people at back who just make it.lodgi wrote:Yeah mate. 1.5m in 12 and a half mins, then 1.5m in 10mins 30 secs.mark.f wrote:has the time on the miler changed to 23 minutes or is it still 22 1/2 ?
can you explain why the 1.5 first half is run soo slowly, then they latter stage run at a much faster time ie below 7 min mile.
any help be great thanks

Its not below 7 min miles mate, it is 7 min miles, which aint to fast, u wanna be trainin at roughly that pace, any slower, and I can't see you making it into training let alone through it.jarhead wrote: can you explain why the 1.5 first half is run soo slowly, then they latter stage run at a much faster time ie below 7 min mile.
