Just passed my interview earlier this morning, I was late due to an accident on the M1 by 15 minutes, so when I rang the buzzer the WO1 said "why are you late" in a really angry voice lol, made me a bit nervous at the start but after 5 minutes I was fine.
The questions were really straight forward and it seemed like he was in a rush (interview lasted 15 minutes). One question was about fitness and he asked me how many pull ups I can do, I said 8 and he goes "ok, we will test that later on". I was bricking it then, as I had to do them in a shirt and tie and wasn’t fully confident on the technique. Anyway, after the interview he took me to the pull up bar and I completed 8 successful pull-ups (bloody hard).
The questions on the corps were pretty simple (How long is RT? Where are the 3 Commando units based? What are the 4 Commando tests done at the end of RT?) and overall was very happy at the end of it. Now its down to the weight gain part of things before my medical!

Well done mate!
I have got my interview tomorrow morning. I am stressing a little because i cannot for the life of me find the bit of paper with the interview time on it!! and the AFCO tel. line cant seem to get through.
And they make you do pull ups right there at the interview, lol. didnt see that coming. The guy who is doing my interview is really serious sort of person, no smiles or 'breaking the ice' with this one. oh well. im sure it will be fine.
Whats next for you to do mate?

I was surprised that he made me do pull-ups to, especially in a shirt and tie. Because I said I could do 8 he probably didn’t believe me and wanted to see if I was bullshiting.
Up next is the weight gain as I'm a tad under 60kg, then will be geting the date for my medical.
How did the interview go anyways Lillelj? Hope you got there on time!

My interview went ok thanks. No major problems. Although when i told him about what i have been doing to keep fit, i was a bit too vague. So he said to me at the end that he would pass my application ( so i passed) but he is only going to set my medical for 3 weeks from now. So that i have more time to improve my fitness levels. Basically saying he reckons i am not fit enough to pass PRMC, as it stands, so is giving me more time. So my medical is on the 5 of July. And then he says i must see him again and show him a print out of my times and what i have been doing.rbarnes182 wrote:I was surprised that he made me do pull-ups to, especially in a shirt and tie. (word of caution to others... be prepared, make sure you have spreadsheets and print outs of your training schedules, as well as accurate details on your times for each thing ie. sit ups/ running times etc etc. Dont pussy-foot around or guestimate, just tell him your times quickly and confidently. If he reckons you are bullshitting, he will let you know straight up, and probably ask you to prove it. But make sure to have some paperwork with you, to make it look more professional)
Glad to hear you passed -- well done.
I had my psychometric
and eye test
yesterday, passed both.
Have my interview and medical on Monday. Feel well prepared and done some revision.
If anyone has any good interview questions let me know!
(As in questions you would ask them.)

I asked a similar question on another forum and got this response...hope it helps...
Your interview will last about 45 mins to 1 hour. They will ask:
Home Background (You & Your Family)
Education to date
Work record to date
Hobbies/Interests (Including fitness)
Motivation- ie: have you researched your job.
Research your job:
Here's a list of some, not all, sample potential RM Commando questions, you maybe asked.
1 When were the Royal Marines Founded? (Corps birthday)
2 Which units make up 3 Commando Brigade & where are they based
3 Describe the individual items on the beret badge & what they represent
4 What is the Corps motto
5 Name a RM Victoria Cross holder
6 Name the 4 commando tests
7 What is the personal weapon of the Royal Marines
8 What happens if you get injured in training
9 What happened at Walcheren
10 Who was Hannah Snell
11 Who is the Corps Commandant
12 Where have the Royal Marines recently served operationally
13 Which Commando unit has just returned from Afghanistan
14 What amphibious ships could you expect to serve on in the Royal Marines
15 How long is Commando training
16 how long do you have to complete the Pre Joining Fitness Test (2.4Km treadmill run)
17 PRMC- what does it stand for and entail
18 Where do you undergo basic training
19 What will you earn
20 How soon can you leave if you don't like it
21 How long is your contract for
Etc.,
These are just a few of the questions you may be asked. But my best advice is just be PREPARED/relax a little, but be confident and concise with your answers.
Good luck mate
i am sure it will be fine.
(as in questions you would ask them??? dont worry too much about that.) anyway this info is for others too)
