I have a few questions
I have a few questions
I have a few questions users won't mind answering.
1) Do you have to go to the same armed forces office that other people use to apply for the paras & regular army, or do the marines have their on specific office.
2) Should i pass since i'm reasonably fit how can i go onto specialist training? Wikipedia dosen't make it too clear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Mari ... t_training
I would like to specialise as either a swimmer canoeist or sniper, can someone PLEASE make it clear how (BTW i prefer sniper).
3) And my final question is if you specialise in sniping can you then convert to swimmer canoeist.
If you're going to say 'you won't make it kid'; don't bother. Please answer my questions and i will never show my face (well username) here again. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if I am wasting my time here because you might end up going off and working some where else. And if you are planning on buggering off after this it dosn't show much commitment does it. But we all have to start somewhere I guess and I have nothing better to do...
Rubbish anwsers I know but do a bit of searching before anwsering a question that isn't on this forum
. good luck and hope you stay here if your interested in the forces otherwise expect a disadvantage.
I doubt there is an office out there that doesn't have a force in it but you can't garrenty that office will have somebody in the force you want to talk about.1) Do you have to go to the same armed forces office that other people use to apply for the paras & regular army, or do the marines have their on specific office.

If your good enough I don't see why not. That is of course if you are good enough.3) And my final question is if you specialise in sniping can you then convert to swimmer canoeist.

Or to be slightly less confusing: yes, you just go to a normal office...Stinky wrote:I doubt there is an office out there that doesn't have a force in it but you can't garrenty that office will have somebody in the force you want to talk about.1) Do you have to go to the same armed forces office that other people use to apply for the paras & regular army, or do the marines have their on specific office.

YOU CANT SPECIALISE UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN A MARINE FOR 1 - 2 YEARS THEN U CAN ASK OR YOU WILL BE TOLD WHAT YOU ARE GONNA DOFido wrote:I have a few questions users won't mind answering.

.
from what I picked up in my search,
go to the navy web site and look for info on careers for marines, there is a phone number on the top left hand corner of the screen, phone it. They will answer any qustion you may have.
I guess once you in 2 years and become corporol, you express a wish on what you want to do. Then there is some kind of selection process, if you pass, your in.
Thats all speculation, myself I want to go on to be mountain leader.
its all dreams and pie in the sky at this stage.

From what I can remember reading in the forums, you either become a GD (general duties) marine for 2 years before specialisation, or get pinged for a specialisation which is in need of men. After being pinged into a specialisation for a few years, you then get first pick of a specialisation YOU want.
I believe it was Artist who I read that from so gladly correct me please artist

Sounds like you'd much rather be a James Bond 007/Action Man/Andy McNab character than a Royal Marine mate.I would like to specialise as either a swimmer canoeist or sniper, can someone PLEASE make it clear how (BTW i prefer sniper).
