As far as I'm aware nobody will know until you've completed your CTC (counter terrorist check) form which should of come with your application. Once that has been done all your security checks have been completed you will have a definitive yes/no.
To give you an idea, I'm booked on PRMC but my CTC form was sent back as I'd made a slight error filling it in. I completed my CTC with application......probably 3 months ago.

Confused...
I'd hasten to add I'm no expert but provided your not guilty of Murder, you should be ok.
No in all honesty I haven't the faintest whether a conviction of any sort will bar entry.
If my memory serves me right it's the kinda peach coloured form asking for your details and history of family etc. Bit vague but it flew outta my head as soon as I'd filled it in.

My CTC check was 'declined' earlier in the year (recieved a letter in the post telling me) because of the alledged driving offence that i had commited and i would have to wait for the outcome at court, my AFCO told me that i would not be able to start RT with a driving ban, and due to the length of driving bans, i would have to re apply and go through all the application process again. If you get found guilty of anything, look at the rehabilitation bit on the application form i think it is, i'm pretty sure your application will get rejected until the rehabilitation period is up - the length depends on the offence, ie; driving ban the rehab period is until the ban is up.
"You all look like a bag of sh*t!"
The only reason i can think of mate is a driving ban ain't exactly assault, rape or murder is it? its just a ban, big deal, and as they are cancelling RT dates due to lack of lads, i take it the corp is really undermanned, so they might waiver certain offences, just see what happens, you never know.

No its a black and white one with about 10-15 pages, and is the one where the majority of the answers you have to write N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A
Pain in the arse to fill in, this is the one which asks everything from been into trouble with the police, to who tucks you in at night.
The peach one is an application form

Kev, further to the PM I sent you, I wasn't finally cleared for about 4 months after filling in the form, I actually did my PRMC before I knew whether I'd been accepted or not. I don't know if this delay was due to the fact that they knew I was delaying my entry after PRMC, due to the fact that the ban expired about the same time as my PRMC or for some other reason. Again, this was over three years ago, so things may have changed. I don't know if there is a definitive answer.
gjd, not sure you're right on the rehabilitation period thing - although my ban expired three years ago, it's not considered 'spent' for ten years (I can't join the police for example within that time). This is a long one, as it was alcohol related (alcohol and drug related motoring offences are treated a lot more harshly than more 'normal' offences). A normal driving offence is spent after three years I think. So in terms of motoring offences, I don't think you're correct. Other offences, however, you may well be - most 'common' offences such as assault and battery I think carry a 5 year period. After that they're spent. Again I don't know if this is a bar to entry.
AFCOs should know the answer, apparently a lot of them don't

Kev, aplologies, it appears it wasn't you that PMd me regarding this! So my last post didn't make much sense.
My situation was:
Banned Feb 03-Apr 04
Applied Jan 04
PRMC Apr 04
Finally cleared to join end of April
The AFCO was aware I wasn't going to start RT til Sept 04, whether or not this had an effect on the delay in clearance I don't know. Whilst I applied when still banned, they knew I wasn't joining til the ban had expired (tho as above, the conviction is not considered 'spent' until Feb 2013, hence the confusion over other non-motoring offences). Take from this what you will. From mine and gjd's combined experiences, I would hazard a guess that, unless you are still banned when you plan to start training, it's not a problem. If you will still be banned, I have absolutely no idea
Tho gjd's experience would suggest that your application will be denied. Don't take this as gospel, it's mere speculation.
