Hardly the point though, is it: PRMC isn't an athletics meet, you run where and when they say at the speed they want.

Running 5k at your own tempo is bugger all use if the other lads in your squad are going faster / slower. Do that and you'll get separated from them, and you'll get dead. Most all of the phys you are going to do at CTC is all about sticking with the squad and being fit enough to do whatever they throw at you, not burnishing your PB times. Learn to stick on the heels of your PTI or the bloke in front, respond instantly to the word of command when given, and you'll do fine.

I'm well aware of what they expect you to do at CTC and funnily enough, I'm also aware that it isn't an athletics meet.

The format for the three miler has been changed very recently, so my dissapointment was referring to the fact that my time spent training for a 5k best effort could have been better spent had I known.

As always Sarastro your witty comments made me laugh, and are appreciated. (Thats sarcasm that is, I can do it too. Quality.)

My my, all bright and ballsy on a Monday morning, aren't we. Good job re: the athletics meet though, you're clearly further ahead of the game than I was, felt like a right tosser when I turned up to first parade wearing a onesie and spiky shoes.

By the way, it's not actually necessary to take raging offence at every piece of advice that passes in your general direction, since it might not be directed at you, but rather the general membership reading the forum who may be a little newer, and know a little less than you do.

Does the PTI run ahead of everyone on the way back and you have to try and keep up with him?

Kevin916 on my PRMC the PTI stayed at the very back for the first 500 metres or so and then started to sprint past everyone and then when he reached the front he would slow down again until he was back at the back to get the slow ones to get a move on, and he would continue this throughout the run on the way back, he also tried to make people feel sick by making vomiting noises and unfortunately for some prmc candidates it worked :o but they carried on :D

Macca, can you confirm whether the 1.5m best effort is under 10mins or under 10mins 30 secs because no-one seems to know for sure. Some have said 10, some have said 10:30. I'm just on the border line of about 10mins for the 1.5mile best effort after a 1.5m warm up and have my PRMC on the 29th of this month so I'm hoping its 10mins 30!

Hi Lodgi, yes i can be 110% positive that it is a 10min 30sec 1.5 best effort back on the 3miler, the 3 miler is now to be done in 23mins aswel wich again i thoroughly remember as it was in the course presentation :D

I forgot to mention that when you reach the 1.5 mile mark on the 3miler as a troop you have to form up in ranks and listen to the PTI give a word of encouragement which takes up about 20-30secs. Don't know if this happens all the time but its just what happened on the PRMC i took part in!!

cheers :D

Cheers macca. I got 10mins 3secs absolute balls out effort today on the 1.5m best effort back after 1.5m warm up. I've always struggled with my distance running. Got 11.8 on the bleep test after that wih 50 press ups, 75 sit ups in two minutes and 6 pull ups. I'm going to do the beast in the morning and then hill sprints at night to try and simulate the two days of PRMC. If I get through the 3miler and gym test 1, hopefully I will be able to get through the course and hang on during bottom field and gym test 2.

I got 9mins 56secs on best effort bk on 3miler then in gym test 1 got 11.5 on bleep test, 48 press ups 65 sit ups and 4 pull ups and went on to pass prmc so just stick with the hard work and don't give up and you should do fine buddy :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence macca. I'm feeling positive, but I know it's going to be hard. I'm going to give it my everything and hopefully I'll be coming home happy, and starting RT sometime next month.

lodgi - To be honest, your scores are good enough to pass. However, the competition at PRMC will push you further than you would usually go... you will probably get new personnal bests there.

No one will push you as hard as the PTIs. Give it your all, don't give up, and you will pass.
Roll off...?
