SELECTION WEEKEND AND HOLDING TROOP

Post by batess01 »

I have just completed and passed my medical and my PJFT, along with interview, psychometric test etc. I am now waiting for a reply from my AFCO... to tell me whats next.

I assume now its my responsibility to phone up my RMR detachment, tell them my score on PJFT, and turn up for holding troop?

Just to make sure, IS THE idea of holding troop is to prepare you for selection weekend?

How long do i get to train up for the selection weekend, if i am joining in the september intake?

There is still a selection weekend isnt there :o ?

And how does this seleciton weekend differ from the PRMC that the regulars do, and if it doesnt, do we do it with them or?

Thanks alot.

No selection weekend - you have a kit issue weekend and will do the Bleep test and a BFT.

I was told on Wednesday night by the recruitment NCO that the physical tests that are undertaken on the intake weekend will be pass/fail from now on in. If you do not make the required grade/levels you will be held in HT until the next intake, 6 months later.

Depends on what unit you are at. Bristol for instance the press ups and sits ups are done to a bleep. You may get away with missing one but if they see you missing a few you will be pulled out. The guy counting you will only count when your chest hits their hand.

Seb, yes I have and I am sure the next intake at Bristol is in October. It is run at the same time as the Phase 1 course.

Any other info drop me a pm.

Cheers,

Wulf

When I did the Selection weekend at London you could get away with pausing for a second or two in the pressups while you try and pump out a few more reps, but we couldn't have gotten away with longer rests. I guess it might depend on the mood of the PTI's on the day?
