my findings after being on a royal navy ship

Post by DANTAE »

ok after haveing been on a royal navy ship for a few days i have learnt much we saw pritty much all the branches but focused on just a few any way hear are my findings

seaman specialist (que banter) : a very hard working branch responsibale for all things on upper deck gunnery (most guns that requier manning gpmg's mini gunn ect) rope work driving the ship swimming out to get people who have fallen over board and driving the ribs

warfare :a good branch if you want to work with computers i must confess i did kind of shut of here so not much was learnt about this branch

medical : a very VERY intresting branch indeed in his own words he is a jack of all traits qualified in none the medical assistant has a HUGE responsibility of dealing with every medical problem on board and yes sometimes this dose mean proforming minor surgery and major surgery if he cant get the patient of the boat a to a specialist the specialist would have talk him through it as a lifesaving mesure also has to proform diagnosis we was told of cases where he has had to take a sampale put it on the microscope and diagnose the patient in this case calmyidah also if he dose do surgery i would imagine that would make him a trained anisetist normally tho patient sampales are sent off to hospital labs for testing

also beware officer candiates the crews will consider doing "things" to your coffee if you phone down to mess to ask for one and there is a beer ban on due to unpaid bar tabs quite amussing to see royal navy sailors swearing about the england game while drinking tea and coffee out of there beer glasses all in all a good laugh and i learnt alot thank you HMS nortumberland and was the dit about going to string fellows in your unifourm and getting in for free along with free drinks true if any of you are sober enough to be reading this in gibralter

That does sound pretty special. I was unaware the AFCO offered opportunities like this. Glad you enjoyed it DANTAE.
