basically its a comic-book film adaption of the story of the 300 Spartan warriors and stood up against the invading Persian Army. The storylien itself is'nt great, and you won't like the film unless you take it for what it was - a film based on the comic book of the same fella behind Sin City. Its not a historical fepic by any means. Bhe battle scenes are alright, though they obviously depend a lot on special effects, but thier still interesting. I liked the film itself for the concentration on the spartan warrior - those who were prepared to die. The diologue isn't great, but the actings decent if you ignore the irish/scotish and british accents in it. It's worth the money to go and see it. And your girlfriend will probably like it for the men - who basically look like a bunch of strippers in cloaks
Although the film (which as has been said was based on a Frank Miller graphic novel) is historically innacruate on a few points, the story itself is based on the battle of Thermopylae in which 300 Spartans and 700 Thespian volunteers held back an army of invading Persians (historical estimations range for 80,000 through to 5,000,000 men). The Spartans eventually lost however they inflicted heavy losses on the Persian army, extremely disproportionate to those of the Greeks.
I personally thought it was shite.
Even though it is based on a comic. A lot of the ignoramuses are going to believe that a bunch of blonde Greeks defeated millions of black Persians.
The only interesting thing I got out of the movie was was went on behind the scenes. The training in which they undertook was very interesting.

I thought it was awful.Terrible acting and the computer enhanced physiques looked ridiculous, every person even if they do the same training do not end up looking the same and every single male in the film has the EXACT same muscularity.
It was super cheesy and the comic style photography did not work either.
Its for chicks or sex-changed paratroopers to ogle at fake six-packs!
KP.
Lawrence of Arabia is the best film ever made and the guy is a legend in the truest sense of the word.Go check it!

I EAT CANNIBALS
The ending was rushed but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm happy to sit through anything involving the the historic spartan army.
Although they are overly dramatic and stylised, films of this nature appeal to our future generations. I remember as a boy, sitting in awe of a Genghis Khan film. Which naturally gave me the desire to learn more, to read up on the man. Kids reading books is a fading past time.
If the ridiculous extravagance of 300 leads to any degree of awareness of the mighty spartans, then the film proved some purpose.

Was thoroughly underwhelmed tbh. When i first saw the trailer i thought it looked like being a good laugh but it really was very limited and repetative. As other have said the dialogue was very weak although i thought the acting (what little there was of it) was competent. I made the mistake of downloading it and watching it on my laptop. Its definately the kind of movie that should be seen in the cinema with a big screen and booming bass.
Arrr! You'm made Oie laff KP you'm really ave!KIMBERLYPARE wrote:I thought it was awful.Terrible acting and the computer enhanced physiques looked ridiculous, every person even if they do the same training do not end up looking the same and every single male in the film has the EXACT same muscularity.

Only problem with Lawence of Arabia was the fact he died in the first few minutes on his motorbike. Made the rest of the film boring for me due to the fact that you knew he was not going to die by a Turkish bullet..............COAT!
