I've posted a similar post in the RMR section of the forum also but I'd like to ask people in here whther or not they are in the same situation as me.
Passed selection interview today (phew) and to aid my PT, it was reccommended I attend my local RMR holding troop so do some sessions with them.
Wondering if anyone else has been reccommended this as I was told this is a new idea, to help with the poor success rate of PRMC. Also has anyone expereince of goig to one of these sessions? I dont want to go there and everyone is super fit and I'm still in the early stages of my PT. Look like a right wally.
Thanks

RMR Training
I share the same concerns!
Bristol's intake is in September/October, so I have worked my training up to that.
However when I attended the presentation evening we were told Bristol does run a holding troop, and as such I'd be advised to attend.
I spoke with the recruiting Cpl, saying that I dont plan to be at full fitness until the intake dates, and he assured me it would be fine. He said they would rather monitor my training, and work together to get me to the required standards, it'll certainly help with form etc.
He mentioned its all too common for people to go off on a tangent a bit, end up doing too much and injuring themselves.
So it seems like they are fine with the idea we are not at PRMC standard just yet, but will be by the intake dates.

is there any point?
just wondering if there is any point in joining the RMR while your RM application is going through or will getting involved in the RMR take too long and thus be pointless

I've been with holding troop for a couple of months now and to be honest, it's the best thing to do. You go through a lot of phys sessions and it gives you a good idea of what to expect when you start RT. we've even had a couple of lectures on life in the marines. My advice, join a holding troop if you can. You won't regret it.
