Went into the ACFO on Monday afternoon, got my all my forms and ive got my BARB test, numerial/literacy test on tuesday 10am. Ive had problems before applying. Alot of them down to poor fitness, but ive been training as much as possible, used to be my upper body that was good, and running, but now im more confidient on my running. My PB's are:
Pullups: 11
Press-ups: approx 30
Mile and a Half: approx 9 mins
Im hoping to join the Royal Engineers. When i was in the other day they said i could be away in either April or July depending on my job choice. Really excitied now i just want to get it over with and down with now and get away.

Just got back from the careers office. BARB test score was 85, and got Level 1 on Basic Military Skills Numeracy/ Literacy. Just waiting on my doctors notes, so i can go in and do the P.T. day. Getting quite excited now, but still apprehensive of doing the run, dunno why.

Hi, i was just wondering how long on average it takes for the doctor to send the medical report back. I have been waiting for just over two weeks now and im starting to get nervous incase something is wrong. Is this something wrong or am i just being too impatient.
And also, if everything is okay, and all goes well on the physical day and my formal interview, when i go to ADSC in Glencourse Edinburgh, is the 1.5 miler still run around camp or is it done down on a track, last time i went with the RRT we ran it a boggy track and where told that is was going to be ran down there from now on by the recruits on selection. Thanks.

Everyone is, did mine with some ex-regs, including an ex-para, and they were still not 100% sure at the start, even though they clearly all knew they could do that and more. Just the situation, don't let it worry you.nufc_bhoy wrote:Getting quite excited now, but still apprehensive of doing the run, dunno why.
Best thing you can do to prepare is run longer distance than 1.5, run 1.5 over rougher / hilly ground, in bad weather (easy at the moment!) and sprint the last 800m or so. That way you can do it in crap conditions & worst BPFA route the Army uses, and still do it with ease. Also, if you get to do it in a squad, most people find that makes it much easier, even if you aren't used to it.
Besides, at 9 minutes you'll ace the RE requirement.
As for the medical, don't stress mate, how long it takes completely depends on number of doctors available, paperwork route, and all kinds of bureaucratic stuff which has nothing to do with your test.
If he found anything bad, you would most likely have heard about it in the medical exam.
Thanks alot sarastro, youve just put my mind at ease, last time i applied, it was less than a week to hear and i thought that was just the norm, but thanks any.
Yeah im hoping to be able to be well below the RE time, so ive been running short/long/sprints/hills, but mainly the 1.5 miler best effort, then running whatever im doing for the day.
Is there a hard warmup on A.D.S.C. At PRMC you read about a solid warmup and i was wondering if there is any warmup there. I wouldnt imagine it would be as hard as the Marine but i was just wondering,
Thanks again for the reply

Just got a letter in on friday from doc at A.D.S.C. I have been deferred for 12 months due to anemioa levels in my blood. I have to at least wait 12 months since treatment finished, which i am told should be about a months time. So altogether, 13 months now and counting. So can't believe it, im devastated. Anyway, i was wondering (i know its the wrong section but its related to this) if the T.A. have the same medical requirements as the regulars, as i was thinking of joining the T.A. for the time being. Try to get some experince, that sorta thing. Thanks.
