Hunter Troop Question

Post by mitch_boxing »

Hi, How many weeks do you have to be in training to get a place in hunter troop? What happens if you get injured in the start of training, will they just bin you straight away or give you chance to recover in hunter troop?

Cheers

I have very limited experience of hunter troop.

But when I was in foundation a lad twisted his ankle in week two and went into hunter troop.

I hope this was of some help

Wow that soon eh :o I thought you must of a least passed foundation before you went on to be "eligble" for hunters company - after all people in foundation may still be unsure if they are really prepared to see 32 weeks out and hunters company is alot of time and money...though does go to prove the marines provide top class care right from the word go if something unfortunate should happen :D
I don't really know what to say here - apart from GOOD LUCK to everyone going to PRMC or POC - remember: people here have been there and come out alive, pass or fail....its YOUR EFFORTS that count!!!

One thing you'll not get in hunter is the best care . . infact I'd go so far as to say you'd be lucky to get any care at all.

I was told from some of the nods that I spoke to which went into hunter troop
that the personal admin is crazy. I was told that you are taught to get your bed space even more perfect than in normal RT and are expected to have a crisp crease down the middle of the sheet on your bed.

Don't know whether its true or not.

I did hear that the phys is more strickter in Hunter as they need to maintain your fitness, which does seem believable to me.

I am going to avoid that horrible place, want to go full 32 without it (well i guess thats everyones "want" :D )

You can go into Hunter almost immediatley if they judge you as "ok" and with a remediable problem.
I was never there although you do seem to see the same old faces in Hunter.

It's not a free ride. Those that think it is get caught out as do those whose admin is up their arse.

The creased bedsheets is a gen dit from 2 troop . . . not so bad in 1

I said I'd never go in hunter but I did. Sometimes though leaving and returning when fixed may be the smartest option, especially if you're young.

What I will say is that it's easy to say things sat behind a PC but very different when you're in the situation. Sat in pain and the PMO sitting opposite you saying you're out of your troop for good - or not fit to continue training - is a tough thing to deal with.

Take it as it comes and try not to worry about it. If it happens, dig out with the same attitude in RT and you can do no more. It's important that you don't give up because they do tend to help the "good" lads more than the loafers if they can.
