RAF sport clubs..?

Post by staffsgent »

ARe these more limited than those in the army? ive searched but to no avail so if anyone has any links they would be most appreciated.

IM specifically after one of two barbell sports - powerlifting or weightlifting (the olympic lifts, not just the act of curling a bar..lol)

Many thanks.

Staffsgent,
I think the number of sports the RAF and Army offer are a similar number, Below is a quote from the Royal Air Force official site for you.
The RAF has helped the UK produce national and international competitors in:
boxing;
athletics;
snowboarding;
sub-aqua;
rally driving;
slalom skiing;
rugby union;
sprint;
rugby league;
hammer;
cycling;
canoeing;
sea angling;
powerlifting;
triathlon;
skeleton bob;
shotokan karate;
motorcycling;
microlight; and
javelin.

Hope this helps

Cheers for the reply scott but that doesnt rally help - if you read the link fully the part you cut off says 'The RAF has helped the UK produce national and international competitors in:' - i.e its a list of sports athletes have done well in....

Indeed it does, but was the best I could find on the topic.
So I thought I’d fire it up here anyway for you. It gives you an idea of the sort of sports on offer. I wouldn’t let the lack of weightlifting clubs put you off.
The word “Helped” made me form the conclusion that it is possible to train in these sports. Good luck mate
