I know a couple of guys who run 100mile weeks who wear shoes with the least "support", granted they are both racing whippets and are both pretty good club runners (around 2:30 marathon) but as I said, each to their own.
There joints will be shafted when they're about 50. Me dad knows a bloke who used to be into distance running. Running on concrete all the time buggered his joints. He can hardly walk now.

Dont ask why i tried this, but i read up on the whole running without support, letting your feet free thing, tried out a few runs on grass, then a couple of sprints- in socks! anyway, it might work for a nine stone kenyan, but if your nearly twice that weight three words - feet-tendons-buggered-

training shoes

Post by Gar »

to get back on the original subject, i wanted some new running shoes because i was using flat soled ones that really wheren't sutible for running, so i looked in a few specialist running shops. Their trainers where all around £80 and i wasnt willing to pay that much so went into JJB and found some new balance 427 running shoes on special price of £19.99 marked down from £60

Gar, that's a fair one for you as long as they suit you, so bargain indeed.
Mark, you could be fine with a pair like Gar got, but it's seriously worth going to a proper running shop first and letting them look at your stance and how you run etc, just in case. If they were to pick up something that might mean you need extra stability for example, it could save you time from injury etc in the future by getting ones suited to you.

Or get some Silver Shadows, they're cheap and so get a couple of pairs and alternate them.

Depends on the person, definately not for injury prone people.

Well you'll be using them during training and running in boots.

Running shoes are very comfortable, and give the correct support, if your like me and over pronate when you run then then getitng a decent pain of running shoes to even it out for you can be very effective!!

There's a pair of 'hi-tek' running trainers you can get which are amazing and only around £20. Ill try and find them and get the link.
