Just wondering, has anybody served in Afghanistan or Iraq?
Could you tell us if the RAF Gunners actually come in contact with Insurgents or Taliban fighters, i was just curious because you never hear of Insurgents targeting the bases or any Gunner out on patrol.

My ex college tutor was in the RAF Reg but he came out almost a year ago now to teach at college. he told me his experiences in iraq and he saw some action out there, he had been in a few firefights over there and had seen some pretty horrific things too. it was very interesting to hear what he had to say

As for rocks never being targetted pull the other one, it just doesn't get reported as no fatalities equals no news as far as the media's concerned, a regt patrol got hit the other week in iraq, luckily the IED was triggered too late and the brunt of the blast missed the wagon otherwise we would have more than likely lost men by the sounds of it.
