Hate to drop in but the title of this forum is 'MILITARY FITNESS AND TRAINING', the problem with spooky is hes always right and people don't like it.

Also dont slate me for this post, I joined to chat productivly about joining the marines, not hear people who havent even got in yet slate the other much indispensible parts of the british armed forces.

People slated spooky for this thread, but he wouldnt have had to make it if people weren't saying what they were saying in the first place. LETS GET BACK TO FITNESS AND MARINES.

Indeed it was, worse than wet and dry i might add....though it was summer.

But seriously it was the best thing that could have happened to him in many ways, and to be fair lets be honest he got off fairly lightly, im not sure the lads just coming back from Afghan and Iraq at present would have left it at just an ear bashing....

As much as you are totally right with what you have said......wouldn,t it be much more funny to let them find out the hard way?

I remember being in the local pub, back on leave at the end of week four (oh the heights of being out of foundation went to some peoples heads, they thought they were trained Commando's) and a few of the lads came down to my lovely little town. Anyway, whilst talking to some girls one of the lads was giving it the big one "im a Royal Marine" and saying "no its not the Army they are shite" etc etc and along comes three guys from from my town (two of which were Royal, one a Corporal who was actually at CTC at the time, and the other guy was a Corporal in the Army, not sure of the Regiment, but he's infantry). So i take it as my cue to move away as it was very embarrasing to say the least, this lad got an absolutely roasting, firstly from the lad in the Army, then secondly from the two Marines who made damned sure he was never going to gob off again untill he had at the very least passed the Commando course and got himself to a unit. He went from thinking he was Rambo to feeling absolutely pathetic. BUT lesson learned, he did go on and pass out of training, but im sure he will never forget that day, who knows it most likely helped him along the way.

dwarfy,
Hahaha! What did the exactly say or do to the guy then?? Would of been amusing to watch i have to admit!

I consider myself a Cavalry Gent :D but even I've come close to putting my fist through the monitor when I read some of the disrespectful cr*p aimed at the Army on this site. I wouldn't take it from a 22year Bootneck never mind a Civie Marine wannabe.

Just remember the vast majority of the scrapping in Iraq and over the years to come in Afganhistan will be carried out by the British Army Infantry and Cavalry Regiments. They will spend year in year out on Ops, seeing there friends killed and will just crack on without complaint like we always do. And wont enjoy anyway near the press coverage the Paras and Marines get. Anyone disagree with that

I let rip on the Army Commando thread. It annoyed me and still does. OK.

I ain't a wannerbie. I'm what I am, a guy who served in the Corp from 1973 until 1990. I've worked with Army units. Some were top rate some were not. I have Mates who served in all manner of Army/RAF/Navy units and as per any bunch of ex servicemen we get on despite the ragging that we all give each other from time to time.

At one stage I left this forum because I was sick and tired of total wazzocks talking though their fecking arses!! But dear Flo bribed me to return (still waiting for the dosh dear lady!) Now Spooky feels the same way as I did. If he wants to leave so be it.

As it is I don't come on here much due mainly to the pointless crap spouted all the bloody time about press ups, pull ups, sit ups, what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, etc, etc. Use the SEARCH Facility and you will see that the same pointless questions have been asked since the site first kicked off!!!
