Why do i find it harder to run in the mornings?

Post by gjd1986 »

When i go at night, i can run my run fast, but when i do it in the morning, i find it alot harder, why is this?

would it be more benificial to run in the morning as it feels harder? or to carry on doing what i'm doing at night?

ta.

I'm the same gjd. I think it's because in a morning you're not as likely to be as well warmed up from the days activities, and you probably havn't had much food and water in you before you go. In one of my girfriends dieting advice sections of a magazine she was reading, it said people trying to lose weight should run in a morning because they have had less food and end up burning fat quicker than if you run at night.

Where as I hate it bennie. Sometimes, if I leave my tea too late and have to wait for it to settle I end up having to run at night and I hate it, especially now its cold at night. I hate not being able to see much infront of me aswell, I was running the other week one evening and this fox darted right out infront of me, I cacked my pants :)

I'm the same as you lot aswell i usally do my running at around 9-10ish, i dont think there is no difference between running in the morning or the night. For me i find alot more effecient running at night.

I usually go around 8pm, i do the 3 miler in just under 19 minutes.

When i just did a 3 miler about 2 hours ago at 9am i did it in around 22 minutes and i was pushing myself too, talk about getting demoralised.

I think i'l start doing my sprints in the morning and my long run at night, that should get me used to hard exercise in the morning before any breakfast.

Thats why the green bible tells you to do all press ups and sit ups in the morning.

If you can get used to doing them in the morning when you have little energy then your gonna be fine later in the afternoon when you've had your dinner and tea.

I way too tired in the morning to do excersize. Im sure if we were in a real situation eg. RT etc we would run and excerisize in any condition.

No it's not bad at all euro. With people working while training it's a lot more convenient to train in the evening. If you're jobless (like me :) ) you can train when you want, which is usually, press ups and sit ups etc, or "The Beast" circuit about 11-12am then my run, usually 3-4pm. Theres no virtue in getting up at the crack of dawn to train.

Course it's not bad but when you come round to doing your PRMC you'll be running in the morning, so you may as well get used to it

It will also help you mentally and help you get ready for PRMC, get in the habbit of getting up early and exercising (wether it's just going for a walk or whatever) as you'll be getting up about 5:45 when you come round to it

When I get my PRMC date chris, i'll start getting up ealier then, and getting used to one day a week where I have about 5-6 hours then go running when I get up. But for now, i'm happy to get up and train when I want.

If you find it harder to run in the morning, run in the morning! The sooner the better. Don't kid yourself into taking the easy option.

You burn fats more than carbs in the morning as you are running on empty. Thats why it takes alot more effort.
