Hi
Hi everyone, new to the forum but been checking it out for quite a while, just want to say that the information you guys give is really helpful, so thanks.
Random question - What's with the ATC not liking CCF cadets? Being in CCF i'll be biased, but some of the ATC lot on ACLC were really off with me, any ex or current ATC cadets enlighten this rivalry?!

Im currently ATC and yeah we do give the ccf. mostly because they (not all) are from boarding schools etc, meaning we take the cos they are rich/posh. Also because some of them have damn scruffy haircuts. One ccf cadet i met had hair covering his ears. but they are not all bad - im sure your not. Its just one of those things.

Welcome to the forums.
I don't know about CTC/AFC but what I would say is that there are silly poeple everywhere willing to make judgements on things/people.
Maybe sometime this is just traditional... But make your own opinions, don't be a sheep, be a leader

Yeh most of the ccf people we meet on camps aren't actually to the standards I've seen from the ATC. We've got our section up to quite high standards, so yes we're not all like that! We might be from independant schools but we're not stuck up hun so don't worry (well I can speak for half the cadets in the contingent!)Im currently ATC and yeah we do give the ccf. mostly because they (not all) are from boarding schools etc, meaning we take the cos they are rich/posh. Thanks for welcoming me HarveyAVFC
Think it is tradional Mfat_man lol! But I'll be on here to 'big-up' CCF cadets so don't say anything bad about all of us, there are a few 'scruffy' ones but aren't there always some in organisations!

When I was in the corps late 70's early 80's I only ever came across CCF air cadets once and that was when I was doing my gliding course at Manston.
One of the cadet gliding instructors was CCF and he was a good bloke. Then a whole load came along for some air experience flying. They were not anything to do with the cadet instructor apart from being in the CCF.
We never really had anything against the CCF air cadets apart from a bit of jealousy because they were allowed to wear their RAF uniforms without a load of silly badges like we had to. They were also allowed to wear the proper RAF capbadge.
They also seemed weird to us because they had lance corporals as well. Or people with one stripe at least. The public school bit weren't really a shock because a lot of ATC cadets came from good schools and middle class backgrounds as well. Couldn't tell what their drill or dress standards were like because you don't tend to do that sort of thing on an airfield.

The only time I ever met any CCF cadets was down at HMS Raleigh when I was a Marine Cadet and one of them called me a niger when I wasn't listening but my best friend heard and started on the group who were bad mouthing me, and that led to us being kicked out of our unit. So they really give me a good impression of the CCF, but that's only one grroup of people so I can't say anything negative about the rest of the corps because I don't like to stereotype people.
What did you do, after getting kicked out? well all I have to say is that the people I know(including moi!) are good cadets and hardly cause any trouble, like I said I only realised there was a rivalry when I met atc cadets. I mean we're all part of the same organisation, if we can't get along with our own there's no hope. Yes, we do things slightly different but we exist for the same reason so we should get along...The only time I ever met any CCF cadets was down at HMS Raleigh when I was a Marine Cadet and one of them called me a niger when I wasn't listening but my best friend heard and started on the group who were bad mouthing me, and that led to us being kicked out of our unit. One thing I'm going to complain about the organisation of CCF is that at the moment the L6th are all corperals - we're going to be head of the section next year - so one of us is going to be promoted from a coperal to the warrant officer within a year... weird system our CO has

Lol ok. What is so different about the CCF compared to other cadet units anyway? Besides having a section full of corporals, my unit had 6 marine cadet 2nd classes and no NCOs apart from the staff.BlondeLaraCroft wrote:Is on a miltiary siteAnd your spelling wasn't that bad love.still apologising!
