Passed my PRMC, looking forward to RT

Post by rgj-rifleman »

Hiya guys im happy to report that i passed, and that it was a very physically and mentally demanding course for anyone, no matter how much training you do. Met Johnno at Paddingtons as well as Tom_06 and another lad called aaron, great bunch of lads. The others were brillient guys as well and im very pleased that i got to do PRMC with a bunch of cracking fellas.

As you have probably read, yeah that para, was a right loud mouth, i kept civil with him as i didnt want to fail the course for being lippy back. (thrashed him at a pullups competition that he aimed at me for after gym test 2 which shut him up for a bit).

Guys, i was worried about the 3 miler, and rightly so, for me it was the hardest part of the course, hands down. I think a factor might have been was a lad stood on my shoe and it came off at 'its only pain 500 metres' sign, i had to run back, put the shoe on and sprint to catch the guys sprinting at the end which didnt help alot at all, but im glad i did as i passed it.

Bottomfield, wont go into detail, its a mental game, you will run up hills, and sprint everywhere, stick it out, it will end.

Gym test one, i was horrified at my 41 pressups score, i didnt realise that there wasnt a rest position and i put my knees on the floor at 41 (In the TA tests there is a rest position) and the corporal pulled me away from doing anymore! 77 situps and 7 pullups (wish the corporal let us max out at pullups as i must have had about another 4-5 in me)

Bleep test 11.9
(well done tom_06 at level 13, fit as F**K)

Assult course 3:37 i believe it was

Gym test 2, do not underestimate it, 3 minutes is a long time in hell just remember that lol. There was a weight pulling game across the floor, a weight lifting game with ammo cases, a jumping over horses game with rolly polleys, a weight throwing game with horses included, and what you might have thought was a relief game was the mental thinking game. I wont go into it but we must have done over 60 pressups in total on that game. You muck up, you make up with pressups.

After all this was the sprints, you are tired and have to still go at it anyway, dont give up. With this we had lots of leg raises and pushups, and a nice squat holding session at the end, lovely.

Guys i will post the program i used to pass prmc, as i believe it really helped my upperbody one hell of alot!! Remember that little pyramid program, heaven vs hell comes into mind when you start banging them out.

When it starts hurting it will hit you whether you want it hard enough, if you do and can physically carry it out, just do it, it does end. One guy fell off the ropes and lyed on the floor, the corporal shouted at him and asked whether he wanted to be here, he hesitated, and in the end failed, (he wasnt fit enough though, he was sick during gym test 2 but good lad for sticking it out).

The high obstacle course was hard if you dont have a head for heights. I dont but just thought this 30 seconds arent going to cost me a fail mark.

The walk across the planks were wet and i didnt feel comfortable at all, just walk across it without pulling a silly face and you shouldnt have to do it again. The high ropes were abit daunting, ask tom_06 about that, he had an experiance high up there.

All in all any questions love to answer them. Really do feel for Johnno, but i know that he will make it next time!!! Id put money on it!

Also food at CTCRM:- my thoughst are they were great, the night before bottom field i had 3 courses, eat as mucha s you can you will need the energy!

Top best times:- having a crap with tom_06 next to me in the next cubical and him telling me it was hard to squeeze out.

:- having tom_06 let me inspect his girlfriends boobs on his mobile (still nice work there mate, all the best for you to in RT, your guna need it i like her  )

:- scaring the hell out of each other with loud intimedating voices pretending to be a corporal watching everyone jump, we all jumped at one point at least.

:- having one of the diamons tell para boy that he was and i quote 'a gobby little c*nt

:- watching mobile videos almost dying from laughter with the lads

:- the moral after a phys session

:- Being given my boots and certificate

Guys i wanted it so much, i was in tears on the platform to my folks and friends and they were to. Im really glad that i did it and i cant wait for RT.

If you want that program just post on here and ill try and get one sorted out :D

Well done to everyone that attended 904 PRMC

mate im well chuffed for you there, sounds like you had a cracking time.
some great info in that post aswell, its the first ive read in so much detail of gym test 2.

i must admit though - with PRMC in less than 3 weeks, im sh*tting myself about that 3 miler. i think if i can pass that ill have the confidence to do the rest.

questions though - did you take trunks or shorts for the swim test (sounds silly but i cant seem to find a answer on here)

any tips for the 3miler, or any other part of the course?

once again, proper well done congrats.

ps. i tried that pyramid programme the other day, it was awsome, got to level 6, think i can do more though.

We didnt get the chance to do the swim but i did take my swimming shorts and so did alot of guys so its up to you on what you take really. Didnt do close quarter combat either :(

That 3 miler, lol my tips would be dont go infront of someone that gets so close that he treads all over your shoes. Keep going no matter what, when you see the corporal at each turn its not the halfway mark. If you can get to the front of the group next to the corporal, as all the stragglers will get in your way and keep you at an uneven pace.

Best of luck mate, and crack on with the pyramid, it relaly did help, the pressups became a break for me which was really helpful.

Hope this helped mate, and best of luck for your prmc!!!!!!!

Anymore for anymore?

Hoping to get RT with Tom_06 as hes a really nice fella, a moral lifter

mate, so chuffed for you!
I got the gist of how nervous you were before hand, and you weren't lucky with your ears the day before.

I was smiling everytime i logged onto here or msn, and you wern't on line! That meant you were still down there, slogging it out.

Well done mate! Enjoy getting hammered

Nice one RJG,

See all that worrying for nothing hey!....still all it does is prove that it all means alot to you. Best of luck for RT and trust me, you will get sick of the galley food in time, say about a week when you realise its the same stuff all the time, still there's plenty of it so you cant complain. '9 o,clockers? no thanks, dutchy's please.'
