Sodding Application forms

Post by JCAP3 »

Hey, after failing my AIB i'm going to join the Royals from the bottom. The only thing is, i'v been given all those application forms. I have signed 3 packs of these in the past.

Is it really neccesary or are records destroyed?

Oh, I was also told it wasn't neccessary for me to do the PRMC. Will this mean that i'll skip the PJFT too?

Cheers

I had to fill in those damn forms again, that security form is a right pain.

The reason I couldn't have my details moved over is apparently it would have taken longer then if I just did them again.

Unfortunately you probably will have to do PJFT and then PRMC, as that's what people on here have done and some other lad on my PRMC.

Huh. strange. I was told by my AFCO and a guy at my careers office that i wouldn't have to do it.

Sorry to hear that JCAP3, i think i'm going to end up with the same problem because i don't think i'll get selected as an officer down to grades, if i don't its not a problem as i will start as a recruit because im definately not giving up on my chances of being a Royal Marine.

So, after you failed your AIB and chose to do recruit training, what forms did you have to fill out??

Yeah, I wasn't too bothered about the AIB as i wasn't especially interested in being an Officer to be honest from the start (theres alot of Admin that goes with it and i believe that experience would serve me better when becoming an officer than joining straight from civy street.)

Like you said, don't give up - talk to someone at the careers office and they'll give you the application forms that you had to sign to begin with (i phoned my afco - they destroy your application). The innitial applications I have signed was the Navy one, the one where it asks your qualifications and the past offences one.

I was told that it could take up to four months for it to all go through but he also told me that I won't have to do the PRMC and maybe not the PJFT.

It's a piece of crap having to do it again but i feel more motivated than i did for joining as an officer.

You WILL have to do it all again, i'm in the same boat as you except, i've already filled the forms in again, done my medical again, and my PJFT, and have got my PRMC booked already, my AFCO said he didn't think i would have had to do it either but he was wrong.

It will have taken me about abit over 3 months, to have done all this and get my PRMC out the way in November.

Damn, ok thats a bit of a bugger.

Did you specifically make clear that you had already done a POC or does that not matter?

Ok JCAP3, nice one mate, thanks for the advice. Im still going to go for the Officer training because im not selling myself short, however if it doesn't work out then it will only fuel me even more to become a Royal Marine through recruit training. I've had alot of knocks on my way up to this - i will not accept failure and i WILL NOT give up, i refuse to.

Thanks again lads. 8)

Yeah i did. At first my AFCO said i would only need to do the Multiple choice test, and the interviews.
After doing that, they said i had to do PRMC even though i had done POC and passed. Then AIB had lost all my medical notes magiaclly, making me do my medical again.
The PJFT was thrown in just because of the fact i had to do PRMC.
Also when my AFCO tried to get in touch with my POC record, they had lost all knowledge of me :)
The only thing that is going to slow you down, is if you're getting fast tracked, they can't speed up getting early dates for PRMC with it being quite full lately.

Lost all knowledge? Jesus thats annoying.

Was hoping i would never have to do the PRMC considering the POC was hell on earth.

Cheers for the info mate.

You'll be happy to know that I didn't have to do my medical again so that will shave a few weeks off your process, if it is the same in your case.

Ha, you're pretty optimistic about the admin ability of the Corps.
I must have filled in my troop bible sheet half a dozen times. As for NOK forms, I assume someone at HQ is using them for roaches and they must be a 40 a day man.
Ocassionally you won't have to fill in a form again because they already have it on file but it's not as common as you'd think it should be.
