PRMC 5th Sept -Passed
Just got home and I'm sore as hell, gave it everything and enjoyed every minute of it.
Advice - do grid sprints!
Any questions, fire away.
Regards,
Greg.

Congratulations mate,
Couple of questions, what scores did you get and what were the average scores for the group, was the 3 miler run as a group and what was the time your finished in?
Well done
sammy

Cheers guys.
Bleep test: 12.2
Pressups: 41
Situps: 90 (scored as 80/max)
Pullups: 9 (scored as 6/max)
Assault course 3.20min
The tests in Gym Test 1 are run in the order above straight after each other.
I knew my pressups would be my weak point but was happy nonetheless. I've been working on them big time for a couple of weeks leading up to the PRMC, many thanks to Spence for helping me out with them (cue PM's to him for advice..).
I completed my situps with around 20 seconds to go which I was well happy with.
I was in the last three in my section to do pullups so the Cpl kept me going to 9 then told me to drop off.
Not sure about average scores for the group but I'd guess at around level 11.5 on the bleep test, 45 pressups, 60 situps and alot of guys were doing 6 pullups.
3 miler was run as a group the whole way in 22.30min bang on. Pace is slow to start and finish (around 8min/mile pace) and half way round the PTI picks the pace right up for 5 mins or so. I found it the easiest test by a long way.
Bottom field was great, the assault course is great fun, as was the high obstacle acquaint.
After completing your timed run on the assault course they take you through the "Determination Test" which is when you get properly beasted! You start in the middle of the field and are told to sprint to and around a point somewhere on the field (an obstacle in the course for instance) and back and then do maybe 10 pressups followed by 10 situps followed by 10 tuck jumps. This kind of routine continues until you're all absolutely hanging out and lasts around 20 mins. Just do not give up and give 100% the whole time.
I found gym test 2 the hardest as you're scored from 1-6 on effort and you know it's the last test so you just go balls-out the whole time. It's 5 stances with different equipment like gym boxes to vault over, beams to climb over, ammo boxes filled with gravel to carry around, weighted sleds to drag etc. Each stance lasts 3 minutes. They tell you it's a short, sharp shock and they're not wrong. Once completed you all do grid sprints up and down the gym with tuck jumps thrown in. This finished everyone off and was the hardest part of all. Again, just do not give up.
General views - had an ace time, enjoyed it thoroughly and it was run extremely well. If you're on one soon, just look forward to it as you're gonna feel such a sense of achievement once finished.
Met some great lads and told them about MFAT so should see some new members soon...

Shuttle runs then..?Greg The Great wrote:No worries. Use four markers around 20 metres apart. Start at the first and sprint to the nearest marker and back to start then to second and back then third and back so you increase the distance each time.

You pedantic cnut Spooky! Shuttle runs are back and forth between two set points. Grid sprints are extended and varied length shuttle runs so thereSpooky wrote:Shuttle runs then..?Greg The Great wrote:No worries. Use four markers around 20 metres apart. We do these at footy training and they are as hard as fcuk. Well done Greg, they are awesome scores, it looks like mfat.co.uk and british grit are the secret weapon to PRMC passes these days.Greg The Great wrote:Use four markers around 20 metres apart. I have to wait until next friday to see if I will be fit enough to attend my PRMC because of insulted AC and PC ligaments in my knee. Best of luck for RT.

TheWedge,
Cheers mate, hope the knee sorts itself out soon. I'm 26 by the way and there was a few lads of 28 on the course. The Cpls were saying they do get lads of 30-31 going down.
Sykes,
Best of luck for yours. Haven't got a date for RT yet, should find out next week. They say that logically you'll start RT with the same lads from your PRMC and that there's a 3-6 week wait. Lympstone takes in 55 recruits every 2 weeks so it's possible to work out when the intakes are if you know the date of one, i.e there's one on the 2nd of October.
Regards,
Greg.
