Thing I'm most concerned about is the essay on current affairs and the interview. I've heard from Deadhead's POC diary that they ask you when you've organised events, shown leadership and other stuff like that. But being 18 I haven't really done anything like that, apart from captaining rugby teams and so forth.

Do they do psychometric tests on the POC or is that just for the AIB?

Just AIB for them, the only academic prowess you need is for the essay.

And you perceive a drama with this; how?

The essays and interviews are easy and are there for two resons, the first is to check what sort of level your at (eg, if your essay writing is poor, like mine was, but you have good leadership potential and you passed all the physical aspects, they will just give you advice on how to improve it for AIB). The second reason, in particular the lecturettes but also the essay and interview, are there to give you a break from the physical side.

Cheers for that, I'm sure I'll be ok because I've just come out of school where I had to write lots of essay and coursework. I've spoken to my sister who is at britannia and she said that the're (probably) more interested in the way you justify your arguments and get your point across rather than how much current affairs you know on the day.

tomharto30, if you don't mind me asking, did you Pass your POC then? because I got told that if you pass POC and fail AIB you don't have to do the PRMC again to get into RT, but I see from your sig. that you did a PRMC?

I passed POC and AIB when 16 so have a rough idea of the plan. Goy, being young isn't a problem matey. They know what you've had time to do and so will expect no more than what is reasonable. are you up for a scholarship/bursary etc?

i got permission from AIB to apply this year for a deferred one year entry for YO batch 2008 due to www.journeysouth2007.com which was very nice of them!!!

Bloody Hell, you passed them both when you were 16!!! Thats going some.
I was actually going for DE because originally I applied as a recruit and got my apptitude and eye test done, I got called in to my AFCO and they said I would be better off going for commissioned entry, which I wasn't really expecting. Realistically I think I would be better off as a recruit but they know better than me.

Yeah I'm going down on Sunday night, from Birmingham to Reading to Exeter and Getting to Lympstone around 1745..........hopefully

Yes mate I passed POC, but failed AIB on the aptitude tests and yes I was told I could straight into RT, but CTC said I had to do it all again! But Im nearly there now!

Alex h, will probably be able to tell you more than myself, but make sure you start preparing for AIB now, because some of the lads on my POC got dates for AIB literally 1-2 weeks after they passed which isn't a lot of time to prepare.

Interesting stuff, I have certainly heard alot of contrasting opinions as to what you need to do to get into RT.
The only reason I ask is because I'm not that confident at passing the AIB so I would want to go RT as soon as possible, thats presuming I pass the POC!
Either way its an experience and if I don't pass POC then at least I have an idea of what the PRMC will be like.

Two completely different experiences, loved them both though. Each had there good and bad points. I personally found that I fitted in more at the PRMC, I found that the guys on my POC were a bit, well lets just say upper class! But having said that, they were great guys and obviously being royal officers (or heading that way) had great leadership potential.

I do have to mention though that the food is far better in the Recrutis galley than in the officers mess!

I think I would be better off as a recruit aswell but it was just my AFCO that said I should go for Officer.
When I say I'll know what PRMC would be like I meant the individual stuff like RMFA and the bottom field, it must have helped you going to the POC first before you did the PRMC?
Can I ask, when did you do your POC? I would just like a time scale of things.
