hey just wondering if any of you been to iraq yet,what day to day life really like, i am being deployed in november in the infantry role...normall i am artillery but someone decided otherwise.....
any info would be great..

Looking at a picture and talking to someone who is there / has been there are two very different things.Nutty wrote:Why don't you look at some videos of iraq. You can find them lying around on google video etc. After all a picture says a thousand words.

I was based in camp smitty, had pretty good facilities there, scoff was better than most of the camps ive been to in the uk. had a big welfare which included sky tv, pool table all the usual stuff. Also had good internet and phone facilities. The majority of the time we did escorts for the british police around all the various iraqi police training establishments, we also did patrols with auzzies and we sometimes staged on a iraqi police station. Most of the camps are well established and have got good facilities, especially the US camps which you will probably visit a few times. food there is brilliant.
