Selection route selection
Bone question (which I think I know the answer to...):
I take it roads and paths are out of bounds when yomping around on selection?

YOMP F**KIN YOMP
Unless you are one of the green lid types you do not yomp anywhere you tab, yes you can take the batteries out of GPS, do you assume the DS are stupid ? if you do you will not get far..... they know where it would be best to use roads tracks etc so they watch them as would your ENEMY
thats why you dont use them kin numpty.....if you need basics like that explained to you YOU SHOULD NOT BE ON THE COURSE a DS catching you will fail you ,an ENEMY will KILL you
TRAIN HARD FIGHT EASY

The Brecon Becons still stand Pen-y Fan is still a pain it makes no differance jnr, snr, selection, it stays with you ............
seems there is a lot of yomping going on then as there are quite a few green lid types on selection....
alfred, you can use tracks... as you'll see nearly every route on selection has a track carved in to the ground by other selection courses, civvi walkers and animals. the rule stands that if a 4x4 is wide enough to use the track, then you can't. you'll get to learn what you can and can't use....
hope this helps

You had best explain this to all the nasty bad people out there who lay ambushes on roads tracks etc, if you dont get into bad habits you wont need to break them later.walter_1 wrote:seems there is a lot of yomping going on then as there are quite a few green lid types on selection....

Be guided by the briefing if the DS tell you its ok then go for it but there is more to route selection than speed staying high, can save a lot of sweat later, the fastest route is not allways the shortest......

fair one, i agree with that 100%. shortest route isn't always the fastest. however test week is a test of phys and nav
also i didn't say roads. what i meant was, the guys who have previously attempted and passed selection have made these routes by walking them, and these tend to be followed by each selection. anyway by the time the lads get to test week they have covered the routes plenty of times, and most will be well clued up on where to go and their best choice to move from rv to rv.

There are around 3000 RM Commandos at any one time IE one Brigade they YOMP.
The army TABS , there are around 120,000 in the army eligable to apply for selection so I dont think they will be changing the terminoligy to suit Marines any time soon.
Most of the Marines that pass selection are on thier way to SBS and quite right to, some opt for SAS and thats up to them but when you are in an Army enviornment the floor is the floor not the deck a wall is a wall not a Bulkhead the I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! is not a galley in short NAVY speak is fine on a ship but when in Rome
And as for those tracks I know how they were made I made some myself 20 odd years ago but if you look at the original post youll see that he said ROADS and PATHS and I dont care what you may say about things changing I have been a DS in my time and some things NEVER change and there are good sound reasons why.

this isn't about yomping or tabbing, terminology or anything else, it is about whether a guy who's going on selection can use the roads and tracks. roads are a no, tracks are a yes, as told by the ds. i used them as well as the sb blokes. and i didn't get binned, and nobody lays any ambushes over the hills on test week, not as far as i know anyway.
i appreciate you may have been a ds in your time and well done if you were. but surely you could spell beacons correctly, after all you would have been there enough, cheers

Anyway said my bit i can walk off feeling content now
