The most respected regiments in the world?
You ask the rest of the world if they respect the black watch and they will ask you who are they?
Para reg on the other hand...
Oh and a hat is anyone who is not para reg.
The only other capbadge I respect (even tho I shouldnt really!)
Is the royal marines, who like us have a selection test, so at least they earn their beret.
Unlike most infantry units, u just turn up an get the tick in the box...pethetic!
Well i read in The Times quite a while ago that the Americans specially asked for the Black Watch as Britains commitment in the Vietnam War and obviously we didnt want to get involved in the war so we declined
Well Alfa i dont actually know much about what operations the Black watch have been on, but they are actually one of the best regiments in the army, fact.
Yes I know about the Paras being a great regiment. I also know what a 'CrapHat' is, having read hundreds (not literally) of books on the Paras (and knowing five paras). And Black Watch being the most respected regiments in the World- I meant regular infantry, and throughout the military world, especially the Yanks- i.e. Yanks asking for help from the Black Watch, because they were losing control of Baghdad: Paras aren't regular infantry, they're a specialised unit. Not lecturing, just proving that I do know what I'm talking about. And I never said that the Black Watch were amazing, they are simply well respected. There's a difference.

In what way can the Paras be considered a 'special force'? The only standard infantry that i could think of that could be considered a special force is the French Foreign Legion because of things like there soldiers multi-lingual skills

I never said they weren't.
The point I was making was if you know nothing about them how do you know they're "one of the best regiments in the army"?
And actually they were not sent up to Baghdad cause the Americans were "loosing control" they were sent there to act as a blocking force to stop insurgents escaping when the Yanks attacked Fallujah.
