Joe

The last Classical Music concert I attended was in Trondheim, Norway, circa 1985. It was a Greig concert and by heck I enjoyed it! Drove up from Gardermoen just outside Oslo along the E6 in an Oppos car (he was an Ex Royal who had left the Corp and married a Wonderful Norge lady called Hellena). Stayed at another friends house in a place called Hell over the weekend (he was a Norge Army Capt).

To this day Grieg is my number one favourite Classical Composer.

Dunno about the last concert I went to apart from the Cheshire set hooleys with classical music, ballgowns and trestle tables laid out with banquets and champagne a la Cholmondeley Castle (maybe a good idea for a forum knees up next year???) as they are all somewhat fused together in my memory.

As in , a good concert= loads to drink= good company=don't have much idea about what went on. :o

U2, Roundhey Park, Leeds, Achtung Baby, has to be one of the most stunning.

Simply Red, Paris, year unknown has to be THE best one for the bloody laugh we had. And le copious amounts of vin rouge which we quaffed ...... at vast expense to nous.

ccf =Combined Cadet Force? In a school. The CCF is crap. Cadets In it get promoted so easily because there is no one actully good enough for promotion and because the CCF is new or somthing, I don't know. I was on a survial course a few months back and met some of you guys. You had a color who was to shy to lead the parade! That's why other cadet forces get in a pissy with you, because you have crap NCOs that actully take control of our good NCO's just beacuse they were lucky enough to get promoted because sombody had to! Being taught in a school is even worse. I wasn't boasting about being able to disemble a rifle, you do that before you even pass out! To my memory I was just saying I could do it correct me if I'm wrong. And no, I'm not that kind of guy that goes to festivals so I haven't heard of it. I'm not one of the sad ones that think I know it all, I know a far bit cadet wise. Just because you got corpral it doesn't mean your better then me, I waited 2 years to get a Lance because my platoon was already full up with 'good' NCO's. You probly have adults take your parade because your to dumb to take it yourselfs!

Treat me how you want, I'm not going to take it to seroiusly on this forum.

Heh, I'm in the middle of playing his Piano Concerto. Neighbours must think they're living next to the Phantom of the bloody Opera or something.

(Grieg Piano Concerto 1st Movement on MP3 if you aren't sure why, you will quickly recognise it )

Dont mention stitches!!!!!! :o

The very first concert i went to see was the Dooleys in the caird hall in Dundee on the 22nd October for my 13th birthday. But even now i couldnt tell you what they sang. But i was lucky enough to get a job with Virgin after i left the wrens and became security co-ordinator for the sony record label, and met loads of pop stars, including Tina Turner, Deacon Blue, S'express and those who were around in the late 80's early 90's.

Didn't picture Artist or Sarastro as classical fans, just the way you imagine people over the internet I guess.

Favorite classical peice is definately Tcychovsky(bugger it I never did learn to spell him!) 1812 Overture. I watched it played in the Auckland Domain as a kid, sat next to the 3 Army 105mm they had for the cannons, big flame and made the earth shake, awesome!

I think the best Classical concert I have been to was the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, 1998 I think, played 'Bolero' by Revell. Was at the Civic Centre, Auckland NZ. A honking great tune to see played live.

Best live band would be an equal score between Metallica at the Big Day Out '04 NZ, and Velvet Revolver in early '05, Ericson Stadium, NZ. Was deaf for days but is etched in my head for ever 8)
Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver walked to the front of the stage where I was and handed me his drumsticks after, was so gobsmacked I let go when a dozen other bods leapt over me head and grabbed em the bastewards!
