One of the things I like most about this site is the way the good threads get invaded by the 'old & bold' swapping their crazy stories, which by the 2nd or 3rd page bare no relation to the original question! Even when I haven't a clue what they're on about it still makes for damn good reading. :D

Only trouble is I can't seem to get the word 'brufen' out of my head now :o

I personly didn't know you guys took this forum so serously. And I guess seeing as you payed money to help this forum, and concidering how much was actuly raised, I'm sure there is a way to make this forum alot better with the money even if it is to get rid of me.

I would just like to add my sympathies with regards to the loss of H_N.

I have been lurking on this forum for a number of months now. I have absolutely no background in the military, decided only upon graduation to attempt to join HM RN. None of my family have any interest in the Navy (a few have been in various infantry regiments in the Army), and so nearly all the "unofficial" information has been accumulated via yourselves. I also happen to have a friend in the RM and so the info from the RM thread has also been useful/insightful.

I can only agree that recently the site has become either a beacon of physical supremacy, or one-upmanship. The ideal is that those people who have served impart their experience upon those of us about to begin - we learn from their experiences, they learn from differing attitudes and recruitment policies from when they enlisted/were commisioned.

I can understand the frustration borne out by some members - I too wanting to joint the Senior Service have no great interest in personal push-up best records. Indeed, today I read that an certain well-populated army website is discussing the potential closure of a Naval training establishment, yet the RN/RM threads have yet to mention it (of course my own laziness can only demand, and receive, an apology)

Please folks try to remember this is a military site, not a general fitness site.

Also, please accept my apologies for making a small rant my first post. I am a 25 year old doctor who is due to start as an MO in the RN at the end of February, lived in the NW of England all my life.

I ain't read all the posts on this thread as it's the first time my farkin' PC has allowed me access for a couple of days and I want to say my piece before the bugger chucks me off again.

H_N is a real tonic for me ..... along with a few others (you know who you are :o ) and to purloin an 'Artisticism' as long as my arse points downwards I am not going to see such a good mate leave.

I had one heck of a struggle convincing folk on here I was not a complete arse (although I might well be) and H_N was a fantastic support for me.

Without folk like him I would have given up my quest to find out what my soldier son was up to and in for.

I intend to fill his email inbox with copious amounts of bollux until he caves in and kick-starts his inimitable posts.

Clever, clever and supremely funny bloke whose input will be a sad loss to us all.

And if anyone ever tells him I said so I will deny it. :o

He is a tosser of the first order.

Gaz ...... if / when you read this, you have all my bloody numbers.

I might show me t*ts to all and sundry up some bloody Welsh hillside for no other apparent reason than it is Saturday night but I do not divulge my phone numbers as easily.

I would really appreciate your getting in touch.

I think thats brilliant Artist. Good on you. :) I think thats what this forum should be all about; watching once hopefuls fullfill their dreams, and having the old and bold there to guide and support aswell as offering priceless information along the way. If it wasnt for this forum, i would have been in the sh*t in depot. I wouldn't have had any idea on the types of fitness that went on, the training i needed to do, the training up in catterick itself and most importantly meeting people, who are now mates of mine (Mal who unfortunatly doesnt visit the forums anymore, and Grimey Vibes, who is currently serving with the Grenadier Guards. We all originally wanted to join Para regt, but it turns out we have gone our seperate ways, and are enjoying our new careers).

Iv been snooping around here for a bit now, and iv seen it change. There has definatly got to be some sort of action to stop this infection spreading and doing more damage, which is only going to end in more people leaving.

Stinky, people donate because they do take this place seriously.

as Jobag says instead of posting threads to ask wether you should go or not, why not take the huge hints that have been dropped.

Well done on getting your wings aswell Jobag, brown wings next? :P

Yeah man well done on the wings. I am going to get a All Arms P Company date for either just before Trooping the Colour or just after. I doubt they are going to let me do it before hand as they need all the men they can get. 8 weeks of square bashing :-?

Good evening Ladies and gentlemen,

Now as others have stated H_N is a very valuable asset to this website. Whilst I don't post much these days I regularly read through and take on board advice that might help me with my chosen career. Oh and split my sides laughing at the banter!

I will be honest; I don't think that I have ever directly communicated to H_N through this Website, however I have regularly read through his posts along with those of Artist, El Prez, Doc, Sneaky, Gash, Goldie, GD, Harry and god knows how many others. You people have not only advised me but inspired me too. I pray for the day when I can stand up and say "I served my country". I have probably asked some bone questions in my time here. That is part of being young and dumb, I apologize to anyone that I have offended or pissed off, it was not intentional. The old and bold are the mentors of young men (myself Included) and women wishing to stand up and say I want to be counted!

H_N don't abandon us just because some pricks are crashing the function, 'Per Ardua' as your rockape cousins say. And as Jimi says "purple haze all in my brain, without H_N this site just ain't the same!"

P.S if I donate and promise to run at least one semi informative, military related discussion each week will you come back H_N??

Bloody hell! I go away for four days and the world has gone mad!!
H_N has thrown the towel in and it didn't even make the front page of the Sun!! (At least not in Wales!).
Seriously H_N, you are one of the sensible guys here. I for one, along with all of the other good guys want you to stay!
If it hasn't already been done, I would think that Beast would allow you access to the Subs. forum.
Don't give up something you like just because a couple of "twonks", are also on the same Forum!
Yours,
Sneaky
